DAE2008
1. Trade limits have been increased, I'm sure you all know. people with no quest points can now give/recieve 5k. 2. My level has increased, and income has increased, meaning I've indulged myself, getting some guilded items of armour. I now see more and more green at the grand exchange. That's the set up for the situation that's happened 3 TIMES in 1 WEEK. First time: Enter UB0RPK3R2002. (not a real name, but that's what we'll call him, ok?) UBOR is level 62, and he comes up to me and asks if we can be friends, and go to the mossies in Varrock dungeon. I say, "Why not?" So off we go. We kill some. He's low on health, and asks for food. I give it to him, fair enough. He gives me some of the big bones in return. Why not bury them? Hm... Anyway, we kill some more, and then he asks, "can I haz 5k p0x". I exit, leaving him (who has by now run out of food and his hp is dropping rapidly) and annoyed. The second: Mining (one of my favourite things to do) and someone asks if they'll "be my friend". I, being rather kind natured and foolish, say yes. They, of course, ask for 5k. Bye, bye, nice knowing you, you're now on my ignore. Third time: Not quite the same, but still. Woodcutting this time (Yes, I like to do EVERYTHING.) and someone asks if they could woodcut with me. (At seers, btw.) We're cutting away and all of a sudden: "can I haz ur mapels pox to gt m wcin up?" Now, this makes me morally disgusted. These people are willing to pose as friends - people who you feel would generally be good company when doing dull tasks, and then the turn round looking for money. It was NEVER as bad as this before the 5k limit was introduced. So, I'm worrying if that was a good idea or not. Have you had any such experiences? Do you agree that these people are morally empty? Give your views.
Bauke
In my own experience, those money beggars have decreased after the trade limit. Sure, they're still around, but before the trade limit I'd have like 5-10 people each day begging me for money. Now it's an average of 1 per day. DAE2008
It's not really the MONEY that I'm angry about - it's the whole "betrayal" end of it. I mean, 5k is nothing to me.
Mylez
I tend to leave my chat on "Private" and only respond to something which concerns me, just let these people beg. Don't let it get to you, after they've said it, disregard it. If they persist, add them to your "Ignore" list. Pretty simple :)
Bauke
It's not really the MONEY that I'm angry about - it's the whole "betrayal" end of it. I mean, 5k is nothing to me. People are scum. You should be aware of someone's intentions when they start asking you to be their friend out of the blue. You don't "ask" to be friends, you become friends, and that takes time. Get used to it. As your level increases, the amount of scum attracted will increase aswell. Sad but true. If they just randomly come up to you and ask to be friends, then it's kinda suspicious... I mean I might ask someone who I've been talking to for a bit to be my friend and I don't randomly go up to people asking them to be my friend... Their motives can't be right... BloodArgon
If your blaming the update on this your stupid. 2k increase is nothing. People still begged for 3k. And if it was 2k? They'd beg for 2k. You cannot win with them, which is why I never talk to anyone. 99 Crafting :: 39,750th || 99 Attack :: 1,775th
yanksrule
seems like too much effort for a measily little 5k. i have friends that i can easily go up to and demand 52k and they'll instantly give me it. not that i'd ever do that because it's mean. and 50k is nothing compared to 20m. the first example with the mossies seems silly, because they could sell all the bones for money. maybe they just are stupid, but i'm still wonderfully confused. unfortunately this is how some people just turn their public chat to off. some of the coolest people have it off. really sucks sometimes. Wow, watching this thread is better than pro wrestling! =D>This thread is probably better than pro wrestling because the fights here are real (And the boobs). Ezz
It was the same, if not worse, before they put a trade limit. What I find funny though is that they go through so much just to ask for free stuff, it's ridiculous :P [insert birds flying in a circle here]Yes, that sig was annoying.
