For example, people think it goes down prior to Christmas, so everyone buys before, but that may actually increase the price with all the demand. Then afterward when it does go up, everyone tries to sell, just lowering the price back down.

You won't find out until then, or if you happen to have a time traveling device, which I am guessing you won't have. I just suggest that you watch the prices round Christmas, and see if it does anything. My relaxation method involves a bottle of lotion, beautiful women, and partial nudity. Yes I get massages.
