nine naked men
Damn, I am so buying this for the PC. Nice write-ups as well, Lent. sleep like dead men wake up like dead men
Dizzle229
Agreed, your strategies look like they were planned by Tom Clancy himself. P.S. Doesn't this game come out in like 2-3 weeks? Like, really early November? Get back here so I can rub your butt.
jjrox32
Definitely buying this. The voice command is very intuitive and surprisingly was implemented very well, it NEVER mixed up my commands, even with the [cabbage]ty XBL headset. Trust me though, when you have a good mic/headphone combo like the Astro A-40s it feels so much cooler giving out orders.
ThurinEthir
Telling the story of what happened in an epic strategy game is really fun. I do it sometimes with Civ4, it's fun reliving all your glorious moments. Anyway, it's been decided - I shall get this game. Eventually. Decisions, decisions... Lenticular_J
Comes out in two days. Anyone getting it? I'll be getting it around Christmas, I'm afraid. It looks like it'll be tough to be good - not as easy as Halo or Call of Duty. catch it now so you can like it before it went so mainstream
eggzs
Are the units in Endwar actual real life units such as Mi-24's, M1 Abrams etc. or fictional ones?
Lenticular_J
Well, they're based on real units. It's taking place 12 years in the future, so naturally they will be fictitious. But most of them could really be considered modern units, just twelve years from now. catch it now so you can like it before it went so mainstream
Dizzle229
So all of these units are really in development? Get back here so I can rub your butt.
Lenticular_J
Well, maybe, but I do know they're speculative things that are based on what could be real-life things around this time. For example, I believe the American tank is supposedly a future M1. And foot soldiers are made up of units that are real right now - for America, all the upper echelon groups (Rangers, Delta Force, Green Berets, Force Recon, SEALs), while Europe is Rainbow Force. catch it now so you can like it before it went so mainstream
Lenticular_J
Sorry for the double post, but I guess this is a bump. Me and my friend rented this this weekend. I'm pretty good, he sucks terribly (GUNSHIPS < TRANSPORTS DAMMIT). I want it so bad. SO SO SO BAD. Xbox Live is awesome, apparently. He doesn't have it, so we didn't find out what it was like. Florida's swamplands are fantastic for fighting. Pinscer movements are ridiculously easy, and even expert AI can't stop them if you've got artillery pounding 'em as well. Our campaign on normal was awesome, though. First, we fought off two or three Russian attacks (really easily), then decided to continue our glorious America's attack on Eastern Europe and Russia. The Europeans were leaving us alone, taking over southern Russia, and we took over the Swede states and northern Russia. Easy as pie (except for my friend, who lost the only two battles he played ). Then, Europe and Russia began to fight over Moscow. We couldn't get in on that action, so we captured all the territories surrounding. We also conquered Mediterranean Europe. It was awesome. I left before we won, though. Also: The first battle Americans will fight in Espana (on the coastal plains) is best fought with artillery (guarded by tanks). A few gunships don't hurt, either. Oh, and a tip: If you're winning, or about to be winning, MOVE YOUR TROOPS AWAY FROM EACH OTHER. A desperate loser WILL use WMDs on the largest cluster of your troops. Even in the battles I was winning completely (I had like a 10-1 streak on it ^_^), a Pulse Laser Strike by the damn Europeans crushed half my troops. Oh, and Americans - your WMD's blast radius is MASSIVE. Move all troops a minimum of a kilometer away (a lot on these battlefields). No story today. catch it now so you can like it before it went so mainstream
Dizzle229
My friend says that it takes forever to find a game online. Probably just because you have to commit to each game for a while though. One thing I don't like about when my friend talks about this game. Day 1: "I got Tom Clancy's EndWar." Day 2: "On Tom Clancy's EndWar I..." Day 3: "Yesterday in Tom Clancy's EndWar..." Seeing a pattern emerging? It gets real annoying for him to repeat the WHOLE title everytime he says it. I don't know why, to me it just sounds really obnoxious. Get back here so I can rub your butt. Lenticular_J
Well, it is a wierd word. Say it. "Endwar". I hate reading game titles or book titles to people, because they're always wierd. People think I'm rude when I'm reading because I just point at the cover if anyone asks. Anyways. It's fun to call it that. The game's worthy of such a long name, I must say. Anyone else play(ed) it? catch it now so you can like it before it went so mainstream
ThurinEthir
Discussed it in tech ed today. Teacher thought we were saying "N-word." Agh. I might get it actually. Really haven't decided. Doom1200
I'm seriously considering buying this. Are the voice commands awkward at all, or are they implemented well?
Lionheart_0
I rented it, and glad I didn't buy it. It is so terrible. Sure the voice commands work pretty much perfectly, but its so much less epic then i thought it would be, and I found myself sitting there most of the time doing nothing but watching my troops move from location A-B, and then fight a bit. What difficulty are you playing on, for one thing? And another - THEATER OF WAR. The online campaign is epic in every way possible. You should see how these people treat this. It's incredibly well organized, once you get the hang of it (and it does take a while - I lost eight consecutive battles). catch it now so you can like it before it went so mainstream
Lionheart_0
Normal difficulty, and I tried online. From the looks of it, its one of those things that are waaaaay too competitive for me. Even online I didn't like the game play cause it was still so much of 'just sit and watch the units'. Sure I was yelling orders every 30 seconds, but it just didn't feel like a 'end war'. EdgedThesis
Just got the game. Probably going to get LIVE just for it. I've decided to use the Europeans. Why? Because apparently they're hard to use (which will make me better after repeated losses, because I currently suck), and because the adviser woman has a sexy voice. Russians are ridiculously cheap. They break the command chain ( a rock-paper-scissors thing) with their gunship-killing tanks. Also, their tanks have freaking flamethrowers. What? But I don't want to go among mad people!Oh, you can't help that. We're all mad here..."
