It's a laptop, don't know the PSU, if it even has any.

What are good things to add to it? I'd like to change the graphic cards, this ATI thing is giving me a hard time. Also, if I'm going to change any component, I'd like to know how to do it manually, a good in depth guide will be good :D.

 

 

 

Also, what I'm looking for is a good PC that can run RuneScape HD on ALL ON MAX, with Windows Live Messenger and Windows Media Player opened, all at the same time without lag, I will not consider overclocking, that can kill the poor laptop, the heat is not a problem since I'm doing fan maintenance once a year and going to buy a cooling pad (You know, those little things that have a lot of fans on it so the laptop doesn't shut off due to overheat)

As you said, the gpu is the problem. And i'm afraid, this can't be changed (since it's integrated on the motherboard).

 

The laptop is fine otherwise.

 

 

 

I have two advices:

 

1 - Buy a new laptop.

 

2 - Buy a desktop.

 

 

 

If you don't to carry around your stuff often, go for the desktop. As a laptop (even for RSHD with max) will become pricy. You could build a desktop system for about hmm.. Around 300 euros and it would run the stuff without a problem.

The only thing you can update is your RAM, and even then, you face limitations based on your manufacturer. (For instance, the laptop I'm using right now can only support 3GB of RAM, regardless of the OS.)

 

 

 

If you want a machine to run RSHD in its full glory and other things, then you're looking strictly at a desktop. I would never advise a laptop for this due to its smaller form factor, the immense amount of heat it would radiate, and the higher probability of something screwing up over the heat issue. A machine that can blaze through RSHD wouldn't run you much higher than $900, if you do your homework and do it well enough.

well...the problem with sophiositcated lappys....heat >_< and hardly any freedom to customize

 

just go buy a desktop and in the long run...would be awesome (recommend buying a video card just in case the intergrated video memory doesnt work for the job) besides desktops are too easy to customize. (just in case RSXD comes out o.o)

Any of those systems in that thread will play RSHD without a problem, and many *regular* games too.

 

 

 

It depends... If you don't play games (let's say Far Cry 2, Supreme Commander... etc) but just videos/rs/older games/writing... Then you can go even cheaper.

 

If you're intrested in some options of builds, then tell budget and what you plan on using it for.

 

Remember you need a screen+mouse+keyboard (speakers if you don't have any too) also.

Unless a laptop is designed with a replaceable graphics slot (expensive) to take an upgrade (probably manufacturer specific and EXPENSIVE), then you cannot upgrade graphics.

 

 

 

One thing that may be worth a try for a R7000 mobile IGP, getting the "old card" Radeon Drivers - http://ati.amd.com/support/drivers/xp/r ... 00-xp.html

 

And patching them with DriverHeaven's Mobility Modder - http://www.driverheaven.net/modtool.php

 

 

 

No guarantees, I'd suggest setting a restore point in case they screw up, and there might not be any more performance to be had.

RSHD is NOT a very demanding program - any laptop on the market with a current discrete graphics card can run it just fine maxed. It does not take a particularly powerful computer to run it.

I don't get why people always complain about overheating problems in laptops - I have owned (and currently own) several laptops, two of which are powerful machines with high end graphics cards and I have never had a problem with overheating. everything was stock....and the psu would....think the pc is overheating..

 

 

 

fortunately the psu died on me (lasted 3 1/2 years too o.o) until it got upgraded with more ram and a better psu

Personally HP is the way to go. If i were to choose it would be HP or Gateway.

Yep, Hp is still in the my list of good computer brands, although it almost seem like the Windows XP they had put on my desktop was currupted, having a lot of errors, now I installed Vista on my HP desktop, and runs a lot faster and a lot more stable than windows XP.
