KBD with GS?

I was relatively sure you could GS the KBD with anti fires and mage protect, but can you? I looked at Tip.It's KBD guide and seems to be clearly stated that bringing a 2h melee weapon will result in your death. My stats are more then enough for kbd so taking a hit a tiny bit larger then normal is bearable.

To anyone wondering the same as me, I just tried it after watching some vids and with piety and a super set I soloed my first one with 2 sharks, BGS spec hit 34.

i tired with 84 att 84 str 86 def and i found whip to be 20 times better but at your stats it would be more challanging but very doable

It's just not practical because it can hit 40+ even with mage protect which is rumored not to help and the antifire pot. So stick with DFS or anti fire shield.

Well I've killed around 10 KBD's so far using this method, so I'll clear up what seems to be a rather large misunderstanding.

 

 

 

Protect from mage works here, used with an anti fire, you do just fine. I think I know why people would think otherwise - Mithril dragons hit heavily through this same combo (thus why using veracs there has never really caught on), while standard dragon breath get stopped completely. It seems KBD is somewhere between, but closer to standard dragon protection.

 

 

 

I don't take particular notice to the hits I take unless they're large, but I don't recall any 20+ firebreath hits, the melee hits don't high high very much at all (at least not on verac armour and 90 defence). However I saw a video of someone being hit 44-33 because he forgot his mage prayer so perhaps that's where the rumor originates from. I estime a max hit of 16-18 from firebreath - a negligible difference from the max's i'm hearing about when an anti shield is used (~10)

 

 

 

In any case, I can kill 5-6 KBD's with GS soloing in one trip, using a tortoise summon & 3 prayer potions. I recall only being able to kill 1 with whip, but my stats were much lower back when I whipped there so it's an unfair comparison, admittedly.

I can kill 4 with a whip and a tortoise with my stats. A godsword is much more fun though, hitting 40+'s :

When I have maxed melee stats, how many kills do you think id get with:

Piety and lava titan for tele/combat? praying mage with antifire pot

 

 

 

Im thinking of getting a kbd head, and was wondering how practical this would be. Titan would be for fast trips, or else I could use bob/unicorn but I think id probly get more kills per hour with lava titan?

I thought only 1 of its breaths were reduced by the antifire? Or... stopped completely with a combo of pot + shield.

For future referrence, magic protection prayer only effects leather dragons'(including brutal and the king) breath. Bronze through mithril dragon fire is not effected at all, and I think that the use of magic protection while veracing is to avoid the magic attacks constantly hitting because you have a pathetically horrible magic defense.

 

 

 

Also, you can *definately* get more kills per trip with a whip+dds(I've heard that a d long on stab is actually better than a whip for the KBD and miths, possibly steels) and shield over godsword. Of course, using a godsword is much less boring, but you can last longer on an inventory of sharks with a whip than a godsword, and the more frequent eating(missing a turn of combat with a slow as hell godsword has a much larger impact than it does with a whip) counter the increased accuracy of your hits.
