July 5, 200521 yr The Aliens died because of the earths bacteries; "the moment the invaders arrived, breathed our air, ate, and drank, they were doomed. They were undone, destroyed after all of man's weapons and devices had failed, by the tiniest creatures that God in his wisdom put upon this earth. By the toll of a billion deaths man had earned his immunity, his right to survive among this planet's infinite organisms. And that right is our's against all challenges, for neither do man live, nor die, in vain." I liked the movie alot, but can some1 explain what the heck were the red vines and what for? :? My theory is why they waited until now: They wanted population to get big enough to massivly slay us and use us as fertilizer What REALLY bugged me is when tom was running when the first tripod came outa the ground is he was the ONLY one alive after hundreds upon hundreds were gathered around it. I agree with you. And the girl was so annoying; "i want mom!!!!!!!111, i want moooom!!!!!!!111" rofl, i was at the cinema like "omfg please shut the [bleep] up"
July 5, 200521 yr jees stop bloody pulling the movie apart, in my opinion its the best movie i have ever seen. i loved it. i mean for cryin out loud, u dont go to the cinema with a pad and pen and jot down every mistake, you go there to enjoy it and have a good time. you are all just being pathetic. have you ever tried making a movie, no movie is perfect, every movie has mistakes, deal with it you whingers.

Correct, you don't, but if things are big enough they stick in your head. I just posted something! ^_^ to the terrorist...er... kirbybeam.
July 5, 200521 yr just imagine if it were real: you get grabbed up by the aliens, into the cage. you see dozens of others in the cage, all panicing. then from the top, a red cord comes out and sucks up the person you had just met eyes with. you can see his eyes, in shock, screaming. he gets sucked up to get the blood sucked out of him. who will be next? that would reeeeeeally suck
July 5, 200521 yr the thing that bugged me the most about the movie is the fact that they went through all the trouble of burying their machines thousands of years ago but didn't bother to take over the word then when humans where still primitive creatures. i mean why not take over earth when humans are still using clubs and cabbage??? they put the things there before humans existed. Thats the same thing he just said.
July 6, 200521 yr http://www.jinn.myby.co.uk/wbpgs/tripodcall[extension not allowed] Download that sound, that's the tripods call sound. I just love that! :D
July 6, 200521 yr Then when Rob, the F***ing annoying little girl who wouldnt shut the **** up the whole ****ing movie and tom were swimming when the ferry got flipped over and they were the only ones, once again, to escape the giant thingies. Another valid point: THE GIRL WAS FU**ING ANNOYING. Seriously atleast half the movie she was screaming....i wonder if her vocal chords are all messed up now? i hope so so she can never scream again. If you were an 11 year old girl watching your home, planet, and the whole human race being wiped out by ugly aliens in giant, seemingly indestructable machines, I think you'd be screaming a good bit too. Personally, I loved the movie. I was a little disappointed that they didn't try to nuke the aliens like they did in the original movie. My main complaint is that Robby survived, though the entire military was wiped out. It just doesn't make sense. I loved the special effects, Tom Cruise and Dakota Fannie both did well in their parts, and, on top of it all, it's a remake of one of my favorite old movies. *thumbs up* "In so far as I am Man I am the chief of creatures. In so far as I am a man I am the chief of sinners." - G.K. Chesterton
July 6, 200521 yr That tripod call sound is awesome. When i was watchin the movie, i was reminded of the last samuri. Tom magically managed to not get hit again. Everyone around him died, and yet he survived. just like the last samuri. But otherwise, it was a good movie. The one battle of all those tanks suffering CKs annoyed me though, i mean couldnt the military be smart enough to figure out a way to get under the tripod's shields? It would seem easy. Tom figured out a way, and even if it involved sacraficing one human for a tripod at least there are about 6 billion of us. I was dissapointed in the military aspect of the movie.

Everyone around him died, and yet he survived. just like the last samuri. But otherwise, it was a good movie. i dont see why people always criticize movies for this. would you rather the movie being about one of the first people who died when the tripods came out? lets make a movie about that guy. guy wakes up from bed. guy makes coffee. guy drinks coffee and reads paper. guy hears loud sounds. guy walks outside. guy gets zapped. id much rather see a movie where someone survies seemingly total annihalation, by being quicker and smarter (and yes, luckier) than everyone else.

These things happen. source: http://video.movies.go.com/pearlharbor/index.html >documentry >Carl Carson
July 9, 200521 yr Well I liked the movie until the end too...why couldn't they keep him dead or explain why he was still alive!? Dakota Fanning over did the crying alot...if I was her I would be like..."Holy...Sh--" then start running my ... off...
July 9, 200521 yr Saw it today, and it was pretty dam good. Nice graphics etc. Another thing that I noticed was that all the miltary vehicles could still go when all the other ones were screwed up. Good overall, despite a few flaws.
July 9, 200521 yr Good movie...but stupid that we got our butts kicked so bad and some dam bacteria had to handle our dirty work for us  The irony. it was the water silly, not a bacteria its bacteria, the narrator just says the bacteria in water as an example(because water has alot of bacteria).
July 9, 200521 yr the camera nad videotape working was a bit annoying, but it didn't really make that much difference. except for the part when the newspeople showed the alien ariving in the tripod another thing i noticed was that they said they planted the tripods before humans existed... how did they know they would be a threat? overall, the movie was really good. the car scene where they lost their van was very disturbing, though. it explained human greed pretty well

I thought it was anti bodies in the human blood? That's why it said how humans adapted a defence against them... I'm pretty sure we didn't invent water.

"... were the Martians--dead!--slain by the putrefactive and disease bacteria against which their systems were unprepared; ..." they say something to that extent in the movie, cant remember exactly, that excert was taken straight from the book.
July 10, 200521 yr I JUST saw it. I was expecting the whole world to be wiped out and for everyone to die. :x But, it was a good movie. I didn't like the end when you find out Robbie's not really dead. But, I was ok with the narrator explaining what was going on. I didn't get those red vines however...
July 10, 200521 yr was hoping tom would slap dakota in that movie JUST SLAP THAT *****!! Stunner is in the house! Make some noise please?
July 10, 200521 yr I was at the Austrlaian premier (sp?) and I thought the EXACT same thing, he really shouldn't have survived. I am going to read the book now though to see if there are any differences. I loved the clothes falling from the sky, simple and effective.
July 10, 200521 yr Saw the movie last night and thought it was alright. Though I thought the ending could have been a bit better. Still though it was worth seeing.
