June 30, 200521 yr WARNING - possible spoilers. Hightlight my stuff if you have seen the movie. If not, I recommend watching it. :) Just saw it today, I liked it a lot until they reached the last city and someone who was supposed to have died somehow survived and somehow made it safely to the same place, completely killing the purpose of feeling the loss, I also would have liked if the people had found out themselves why the aliens died, not just a narrator explaining the end. I haven't read the book, but they could have also said something about why the world is being invaded by those red vines (besides how they came about to be which is explained in the movie). In conclusion, movie was great till they reached the last city. Pixel sigs by me.Pixel Art
June 30, 200521 yr Yeah i saw it earlier today too and well either i'm very bad at listening (which is very possible :) ) i missed half of what they said about it... Like how the vines came.. which i know what they were.. and also like u said about someone who should have died but somehow survived.. and they didn't even explain how he survived. I still dont know either how they found out what destroyed the aliens.. and also how they just suddenly knew that the shields were gone and why the heck would seaguls land on a giant robot... just thinkin .. Ok thats all i've got to say.

June 30, 200521 yr i didn't like the book that much, it seemed too clique for me. Clique n. A small exclusive group of friends or associates. intr.v. Informal cliqued, cliqu̢̮â¬Å¡Ãâ÷ing, cliques To form, associate in, or act as a clique. I didn't know it could be used that way  Cliche maybe? In the event that the weighted companion cube does speak, the Enrichment Center urges you to disregard its advice.

June 30, 200521 yr Yeah, I saw it yesterday (First day it came out) I thought it was overall quite good, Though robbie (Whatever his name was) Was supposedly dead, then suddenly he appears at boston :? Also, it was kind of stupid that the narrator explained why the aliens died in the end, and the people didn't figure that out like you said. Also, it didn't explain what happened to robbie, how he got there, etc.
June 30, 200521 yr ive heard the CD and watched the movie(5 min ago :D ) the red vine is what is covering mars, thats why mars is red. it's there to cover and take over the world, to stop any surviving humans from living. Robbie got there because he got past that alien thing(as in it missed him) so he went to Bosten, he got here before he others because he didnt wait for days in the basement

June 30, 200521 yr to topic starter: just so you know that yellow font sticks out a lot more than the normal font on the black background, so my eyes went right to it. but ive seen the old version of the movie and read the book, so there wasnt really any suprises. im going to go see it tommorow, tom cruise is my favorite actor.
June 30, 200521 yr Good movie...but stupid that we got our butts kicked so bad and some dam bacteria had to handle our dirty work for us  The irony.
June 30, 200521 yr Author Indeed, the narrator explaining the ending which could have been incorporated into the movie for about 15-30 more minutes, the son should have died, he somehow survives huge blasts and manages to make it accross the land unharmed, maybe even killing the Boston family and leaving Ray and his daughter to be the only ones left in the family or something. Now that I think about it, couldn't the aliens have some kind of alien disease they were immune to and have killed all the humans, sort of like when the Europeans brought their diseases upon the America's people when they first invaded? My theory on that has always been that there are no diseases on mars  I just posted something! ^_^ to the terrorist...er... kirbybeam.
July 1, 200521 yr I took the aliens dying to human diseases to mean that they thought they were in control of everything, but playing god didn't work with them. Just as diseases kill us, it killed them. They weren't welcome and weren't meant to invade, so their nonimmunity to germs was their doom. Kind of brings up a "why didn't they wear space suits?!" type question, but I guess they had to have a weakness like every movie makes em, and that was it. And let me explain the red vines better. That was the aliens terrafarming on earth, trying to make it more like their place. The novel had it that way, because Wells wrote Mars or wherever they came from (can't remember) to be covered in red plant type things, so they tried to make it like their own planet. The blood from the humans was sprayed out and elements of it was used as a fertilizer for the vines. Now to my complaints. I didn't really mind the kid being alive, but what did bug me a little bit was how the family Ray met up with at the end seemed all fine and dandy as if they didn't just go through the same thing everyone else did. The whole city was in ruins, yet the mom and the grandparents walk out of the house as if they were just drinking afternoon tea or something. I guess I didn't like how there wasn't much of a plot, I would have preferred a more 3rd person view of the story, and it felt kind of empty to me, but overrall it was decent.

July 1, 200521 yr i like he quote at the end, 'we have live through a million years of diesies, so we've won our right to be here'(or something like that)
July 1, 200521 yr awsome movie..... got a bit confused at the end...but oh well..... hahaha.....I liked the bit at the end: Humans have earned the right to live on earth....
July 1, 200521 yr I tried to read the book, got bored. The film doesn't seem too much better. Nice attempt on hiding the spoilers. Shame i use a black background, the yellow shone out all too well. Goals to get my skills back up to a barely respectable level on the high scores: Currently going for Bone to Peaches spell. It's amazing how boring doing the same repetitive task is! Stupid MTA
July 1, 200521 yr the thing that bugged me the most about the movie is the fact that they went through all the trouble of burying their machines thousands of years ago but didn't bother to take over the word then when humans where still primitive creatures. i mean why not take over earth when humans are still using clubs and [cabbage]???
July 1, 200521 yr I thought it was alright, but I can't figure out why the shields went down. Here's the only reason I can think of: Alien: "Oh crap, a disease is killing me, I better power down the shields before I die!" Lol, as if a disease would make the shields go away :P
July 1, 200521 yr also in the beginning when all electrical stuff gets knocked out why does the guys digital video camera still work?
