Harakiri
Its coming to America in about 2 weeks, I do not know when the European opening is, but anywho...this thread is for speculation, and anyone whos seen it can tell us how good/bad it was. So far it looks neat, but some people say the action looks too much like its from a Bourne movie...
How2PK
Yea, I've heard that as well, about the Bourne type of action. I can't stand it, so I hope it won't be much Bourne like action. But I fear. :( Going to see it wednesday. Signature by Maurice SendakWhen the stars make you drool just like a pasta fazool, that's amore!
Ragen
By Bourne action do you mean way too much shakey camera? If so then I agree, it did use that effect a bit too much (I find it hard to follow the action when it's used so using it at all is too much for me). I thought this film was pretty weak compared to Casino Royal but still kind of enjoyable. I gave it 6/10. Thanks Venomai for this super sig and Kwimbob for the awesome avatar! How2PK
Well, not so much the shakey camera, more that the average shot length is 0.01 seconds. There's no respect anymore. AndyPandy
Those camera angles really bugged me. There might have been some really good action in there but I couldn't see it. Also, can anyone explain what really happened to me? As soon is they got to the theatre bit I got confused. So don't let anyone tell you you're not worth the earth, These streets are your streets, this turf is your turf, Don't let anyone tell you that you've got to give in, Cos you can make a difference, you can change everything, Just let your dreams be your pilot, your imagination your fuel, Tear up the book and write your own damn rules, Use all that heart, hope and soul that you've got, And the love and the rage that you feel in your gut, And realise that the other world that you're always looking for, Lies right here in front of us, just outside this door, And it's up to you to go out there and paint the canvas, After all, you were put on the earth to do this, So shine your light so bright that all can see, Take pride in being whoever the [bleep] you want to be. Ragen
Heard someone went to watch it in a suit? I did. There was a few others in the cinema who did likewise. I admittedly looked more like a character from Men in Black than James bond though. Thanks Venomai for this super sig and Kwimbob for the awesome avatar! Will H
I say it the day before yesterday (but not in a suit), and I give it 7/10. Overall, it wasn't a bad one, but it certainly wasn't as good as Casino Royale. ~ W ~
assassin_696
Saw it on Friday night, the cinema was heaving but me and a friend managed to get pretty good seats. I think this film is has really polarised people, but I loved it. For a start, I don't think it was as good as Casino Royale but that was a really superb film. I love Bond films and everything that comes with them so I couldn't not like them. I also think Daniel Craig is fast becoming my favourite Bond. I can empathise with him more than any other for some reason, and since I wouldn't mind being James Bond the empathy is a plus. The action scenes were fast, brutal and very realistic. Bond is more like Bourne now, but still brings a charm and elegance to it all. I also thought the scene at the opera was one of the best ever. On the downsides, there's less character development than in Casino Royale. We saw a vulnerable Bond in CR who was betrayed by a girl he truly loved. It naturally follows that in Quantum of Solace Bond's going to be pissed and colder, still feeling the pangs of betrayal. This is evident, and makes sense, but perhaps makes Bond a little cold in this film if the film is viewed in isolation. The action scenes are by and large superb, gritty and realistic. However a couple (especially the first car chase) are ruined by the camera editing. In short, it's a must for any fan of the films but don't expect another Casino Royale. I'm hoping this is the dark middle of a trilogy. "Da mihi castitatem et continentam, sed noli modo"
megakiller32
The European release was the 31st of October. I'm seeing it on Friday, but many people and reviewers are saying it's not as good as Casino Royale. Eh well, it won't be bad :) Quit Runescape 30th May 2006.Thanks to Hawkxs for my signature :)

angryjoe
Quite enjoyed the film, like others have said, hasn't got much on CR but still a decent watch. Also I know a guy that went to see it on Friday dressed as James Bond as he was off out for Halowe'en as Bond.
Harakiri
One of the reasons the producers are giving for the movie first of all being so short, and second of all, not being as good is because of the Writers Strike last year. The script was pretty weak since the writers were not writing it for long enough a period. Deadlines suck... I just think that one of the reasons this movie is not going to be as good is because it is hard to top a movie as good as Casino Royale. While many might disagree on me when it comes to sequels not being as good as the original, I personally think that having to live up to the rep of Casino Royale probably messed with them a bit. Many people have waited for this movie (myself included...god its going to be a long two weeks of waiting...). I myself am 14 and have been a Bond fan forever just because I grew up with my grandparents for a while, and my grandpa loved the movies. I caught on, and I love the character, and it was not till I read the books that I saw that the movies were really pushing it usually. Casino Royale was awesome, just because I was one of the younger kids the movie was aimed at. God this movie better be good... Also, the Bourne action was meant to be like, over the top fighting...hopefully not the camera though...that was the only part I hated of those movies (plus, stunt coordinator for Quantum of Solace was the same for Bourne). Why do the English get the movie sooner? I mean, yes the movies English, but there are lots of people waiting for it in the states!

stevepole
Well as an American I have yet to see the film, I'm a huge fan for the Jame's Bond series and will hopefully see it opening weekend. I also wanted to comment on the whole Bourne thing, I may not get my point across as I've been drilling this information into my head for this past weekend but the type of shooting style is called Intensified Continuity its part of "post-classical" films. Classical being part of the studio era... I'm to tired to continue on.. sorry I'm going to have to leave it at that. Of course none of what I said is going to change anyone's mind on the whole style. But I'm personally a big fan of the Bourne films too, I'm looking forward to the fourth one. If anyone wants to learn more about the style, read Intensified Continuity by David Bordwellor an article about the cinematography on the Bourne films. Diesel
Havne't seen it yet, but I have heard the theme. I think the Jack White/Alicia Keys pairing is a tad odd for a Bond theme. I'm really not a fan of it at all. Can't wait to see the movie. Last.Fm My Bloggy Proud to have served on Tip.it Crew

SirHartlar
I thought it was a good film, but a mediocre Bond film. Yes Daniel Craig if buff and what-not, but bring back the gadgets at least! :P
