Ant under the LCD screen cover.

Featured Replies

I have an ant crawling around under the LCD cover of my monitor. How do I get it out of there?

It's all fun and games until it decides to die in the middle of the monitor.

Take apart your monitor.

Just be careful. It shouldn't be too difficult, though.

lol how could an ant get in there?

Some monitors have cooling vents that they could possibly get in through

Denismage, if you have a warranty for your monitor, and a shop nearby that's licensed to repair under warranty, then I suggest going there with it. Never violate your warranty with self-service, if you can avoid it. If you don't have a shop nearby that can do that, then package up the monitor in such a manner that the bug can't escape, and send it to the manufacturer. What has happened here could result in your getting a better monitor than the one you have, or at least a better-sealed one, seeing as this could be deemed a fault in the construction/workmanship of your current monitor. :?

From what I understand, a properly-designed LCD should have the display sealed in such a manner as to prevent this problem. Even if there's cooling vents in the back, this isn't supposed to happen... At least, it isn't supposed to under normal circumstances. :|

Ya the actual LCD part should be sealed very tight, I was talking about the actual plastic part of the monitor case. How that ant managed to get into a "sealed" container would be very interesting to know, maybe its made in China

WTF?? I lol'd so hard irl xD

Anyway do what those people said, I'm not good in monitors.

Try putting some sugar near the egde of the screen (a few mm away and see if it wants to come get it).

Love the pic and love the topic.

I think its a mutant ant created via the radiation from the monitor.

PS. Call him Fred or Dave

Break out the Raid.
I'm thinking that would be bad to spray into the monitor... Probably would gum up the works and ruin the screen... Right? :?

Uhh, I wouldn't spray anything into the monitor, it's obvious you'd mess it up.

I was going to eat hot dogs for dinner tonight. I think I will settle for cereal.

OPEN WIDE HERE COMES THE HELICOPTER.

Lol that's hilarious to be honest.

...but maybe you should get someone else to fix it, if you're not too nifty with computers and taking them to bits.
