Xyzz1233
I'm considering becoming a RuneScape member, but I've got a few questions that I can't seem to find the answer to. First off, if I quit members, do I still retain all of my members-only levels and such, or do they all go back to level 1? I'm also wondering if I can equip dragon scimitars/longswords without doing Monkey Madness/Lost City. And finally, I'm level 59. Is this a reasonable level to become a member at? Thanks for your help!
The Observer
1. Your members levels do not revert if you go back to F2P. 2. I would suggest training your combat and other skills up more so that you can use more membership benefits freely.
Italian5kamikaze
You need to do the quests before you can wield them. Quit. PM me if you play The Conduit to exchange friend codes.
Xyzz1233
@ Killerred005: Thanks! :) I was worried that I'd be a member for a while, then lose all of my hard work, lol. @ Italian5kamikaze: Hm, that isn't what I was hoping for. If you did Lost City, how hard was killing the tree spirit, and what level were you?
Mr_Adam
I think I did it around level 70-80. The only annoying thing is that you can't use armor or weapons. I think you can bring food though, if you can you'll probably be fine. Or... If you get a high level fletching buddy to come and make you arrows and dragonhide via assist system... yerer0
I used to be a member, and when I did the quest I was somewhere around lvl 60. I had reasonable mage lvl, and some people that were there helped me get in a safe spot so I could slowly mage him to death.
gun_hippy
Get members ASAP. If i made a new acc, he'd be members at lvl 3 with lvl 1 in all but hp. At -every- level, members has a better way to do pretty much everything, less competition, more resources, it's just...better. Of course if you like f2p, go for it, but if you ever plan on getting members i reccomend NOW. It's been a loong long long long time, but i imagine you could do Lost City at lvl 60 if you prepped right and safespotted. If you go back to f2p you lose nothing: No levels, xp, POH, anything - just something funky happens with the bank capicity which can be annoying if you dont sell off all your members stuff before reverting back to f2p. At lvl 60 i doubt you'd manage Monkry Madness as a first time member (it's very possible, i've seen people do it, but without prior good knowledge of the quest and all options available to you it'll be a little too hard i think), but you should be okay with lost city; and yes you need the quests in order to weild the weps. Sam
1. First off, if I quit members, do I still retain all of my members-only levels and such, or do they all go back to level 1? No, they stay the same. 2. I'm wondering if I can equip dragon scimitars/longswords without doing Monkey Madness/Lost City. You have to complete the quests to wield them unfortunately. The tree spirit isn't that hard - check out the Lost City Quest Guide. 3. I'm level 59. Is this a reasonable level to become a member at? It's fine to join at any level, though joining at a higher level will benefit you more, as you can access the better member features quickly. :twss: 2257AD.TUMBLR.COM
Aslan
The tree spirit is easy to kill. You can safespot him from behind/near the mushrooms. It dies fairly quick; I used mage.
Sam
well tbh, that's the only combat mode that is easy to get on to Entrana. 2257AD.TUMBLR.COM
Xyzz1233
Alright, then I'll definitely become a member soon. Only one more thing... My main way of making money is by merchanting... I buy 10k feathers at 4gp and sell at 6gp. That equates to around 20k a day. (It would be more if not for Jagex's G.E. trade limits) I'll probably still end up doing that, but as a member, I'll probably need more gold. I've already looked at picking flax and spinning it into bowstrings, or even simply buying flax, going to Lumbridge, and running from the bank in the castle to the spinning wheel, back and forth. However, I'm wondering about any other techniques used to make money. I'm thinking that mining pure essence would be profitable, because I always favored mining normal essence as a good F2P money making strategy, and pure essence sells for almost four times as much as rune essence does. Ess is really quite profitable at the moment. Some other common moneymakers for members are general colelcting skills, wc, fish and the like, slayer (even at lower levels the mosnters tend to drop realyl good herbs quite often and the occasional mystic peice), runecrafting (especially 44+, or you can use assist), collecting herb or summoning seconds to sell, in fact most activities in p2p will make you more than 20k a day, you can probably find that lying at the ge floor on any world right now :s I'd go for ess for now though: can't go wrong. Or use some of those feathers to fish ;) -biased fish fanatic-
purewcnub
If you want to be a member I reccomend 43+ prayer. There are many quests with high-levels monsters, and protect prayes are a huge help. Btw, you should try waterfall quest when you get members. Its easy and it gives 12 or 13k exp in both attack and strength. Money making tips: not my vid, I take no credit. all credit to the maker. Gandorf61
It really all depends on your stats. Fletching can be used to make some money at higher levels as can fishing. If you have a high enough level in range you could also kill dragons or aviansies. Also if you have 50 runecrafting you have access to the RC Guild which is extremely helpful. Runecrafting natures is also very profitable. Pyramid Plunder Guide Tip.it Forum Rules Adventurer's LogThanks to Cowboy14 for the awesome sig! Xyzz1233
@ purewcnub: That is the ultimate way to make money! :) Pure essence mining also seems to stack up well compared to that, too. @ gandorf61: My only "money making" skill is mining, which is level 50. Most of my other non-combat skills are low-ish, especially runecrafting. (lv 3, lol) I do mine stuff occasionally, and mining gold is pretty profitable, but I feel that rune essence mining is better. EDIT: All this is mind, I think I;m gonna set myself a goal before I become a member. Here's what I'm thinking: 50 Attack, Strength, and Defense (Currently 49, 49, and 49, respectively) 30 Ranged Trained on guards for half an hour. 20 Crafting Done! I simply bought 194 gold bars and made them into necklaces. That was easy. :P 43 Prayer (Currently 29)
headcheff
those goals look good, i would mine pure ess when you get to members, or buy oaks logs, make them into planks and sell, or even better cut the oaks on the way to the sawmilll! (not sure how well oak planks sell now, i sued to do it and it worked ok!) slayer is also good, the low levels drop great herbs which you can either use e.g. guam or sell e.g. ranarr! Xyzz1233
That was what I was thinking. Teak planks work too, though. (according to the video previously posted) Anyway, I finished my crafting goal. I bought 194 gold bars and made them into necklaces. Took less than 10 minutes, and I'll hopefully be able to sell them for a reasonable profit in Port Sarim. For future reference, they don't sell well on the G.E... EDIT: Hm, I sold 50 and made only 3k. The price goes down fast once there are a few necklaces there. I'll just sell them on the G.E.
Xyzz1233
Got my ranged goal! It took 30 minutes of training on guards. I'm training attack next. :)
