Hi there,

 

 

 

Haven't been active again, but I've come back to shamelessly plug my latest endeavor. It's an application for the iPhone no less! It's basically a Finnish cult classic coin game - pajatso - with some nifty physics engine action. It's all coded by me (save for open source physics), all drawn by me and the sounds recorded by a friend of mine. It works by hitting the device on the side, so it's basically the same as the real pajatso!

 

 

 

Yeh, it's not free so.. well, just comment on the graphics I guess! :)

Awesome dude. What programming language does the iPhone use for its apps anyways? Looks impressive. :)

Hey nadril, long time!

 

iPhone uses the same objective-c as mac programming and - you guessed it - nothing else. So I had to learn a brand new language and a new environment. It's been a long haul to get this far. You can also use normal c or c++ for most things and normal opengl commands.

Heh, this is one game I recognize, wasn't aware that it was only in Finland. :P But I'm not much of a gambler.

 

The graphics are very clean and professional looking, well done. And you're even using , I see.

 

Cool thing with the coins falling out, I don't think I've ever seen anyone do that with the real thing. :XD: But then, the real thing is what, nearly a meter wide?

 

Any chance we could see a demo of the animation?

I don't think you can give apps away for free.

Reminds me of that app that was just a gold (?) button, it didn't do anything but cost like $1000, so you could buy it and just know that you were rich enough to afford a virtual button. :lol:

Except that took one hour to make and this took one hundred hours (oh and it did nothing.. this is a good game). :( :shame: :thumbsup: Yep, that was my first iPhone app and first OpenGL game in a long time. (old timers might remember Megamelee that I posted here quite some time ago.. the PC space shooter game)

If we get ten people genuinely asking for a free app (that could go and download it for themselves) I'll draw out two codes. No, I don't think so. And Apple has locked down iPhones so that only apps from the store will work. :| Otherwise Fennec, or at least a beta would be in more widespread use. (It doesn't qualify for a place on the app store because it is meant for the same thing as mobile Safari) On that page they have it running on a Nokia internet tablet, from what I can see.

Could you use it on IPod Touch too? Since they are almost totally the same, IPhone only has a camera and calling/sms function.

I can't see your point, App Store has hunderds of free apps. And his App is already for sale at the App store.

Pajatzo has been the best selling iPhone App in the Finnish App Store since it took the spot almost two weeks ago! (selling around 450 copies in Finland so far) So, I made a new version and I finally have a clip of the gameplay on youtube. Check it out!

I did this game called "megamelee" for a school project. C++ on Windows... I think I posted a thread about it here too. If you want to try it out, I can post a link to DL :D

I love the physics! The video is cool.

 

 

 

One thing though, can you change the shading on the coins based on their rotation? It looks kind of weird with coins with shading towards the light source.

Lol, yes you can! I only have free apps on my iTouch... It is the designers choice to make people pay for the app...
