Attack levels do more damage than strength? Find out.

Think of it this way, the way most people should think in my opinion.

THERE IS A BALENCE.

1 attk 99 str 1 def - you will hit rarely but mostlikely very high because of the height of your max.

99 attk 1 str 1 def - you will hit very often 0-1's

1 attk 1 str 99 def - you will not be hit very often except if the charicter is 99 attack.

In a situation where a person is 99 str attacking a person with 99 attack, the person with 99 attack will probably hit him 30 times and only 1's before the person with 99 str can hit one 30.

In a situation with a person with 99 attack going aganst a person with 99 def he they will hit eachother often but 99 attack more-so.

There was probably no given statistics because there was no need for them.

obby mauler vs dds'er - obby mauler hits two 44's and dds'er hits eight 11's. BUT who ever eats proberly will be the victor.

Let's pretend NPCs have defense levels for the sake of my post...

We have 3 players:

Bob - 80 attack, 40 strength

Bill - 60 attack, 60 strength

Brad - 40 attack, 80 strength

Against an NPC with 80 defense, Bob would yield the most xp per hour.

Against an NPC with 20 defense, Bill would probably yield the most xp per hour.

Against an NPC with 1 defense, Brad would yield the most xp per hour.

Thats not right, Brad would definitely not get the most exp because he can only wield rune.

I doubt bill would get more exp than bob because his attack is only 60 compared to bobs 80. His max hit may be a little higher but he'll be hitting a lot less.

I think the question is this:

What is the xp per hour using 90 atk, 70 str versus 70 atk, 90 str. Everything else being equal (Whip, Rune defender, other bonuses, same monster).

Is Str or Atk the better skill to train. Yeah, Atk gets you the better weapon, but after that is Str better than Atk.

Say a Sword A gives me +5 Str bonus benefit over Sword B. But Sword B has +20 Atk bonus benefit.

Sword A - 80 Atk bonus, 85 Str bonus

Sword B - 100 Atk bonus, 80 Str bonus

Which is the better sword (for training and treasure gathering).

I think the Max Hit ego trip relates only to the "kill shot", which is pointless when it comes to long haul training and treasure gathering. This has made Str bonuses all the rage as the benefit is immediate (does not take much to see your max hit). Plus, the max hit is the same on all creatures. The atk benefit takes time to figure out. Even then, to explain the benefit that extra 20 atk bonus gives you it hard to do.

Know what! I WISH that Jagex would let the Lunar Spell (scan creature?) give another hint such as "Weak Defense to Range, Slash. Strong Defense to Magic, Crush". Sorry, random thought.

IMO I was hitting just as good at 80 Attack then now at 88 Attack, but I have more fun hitting that slight bit higher.

To the dude that said it's all circumstantial, I think you are the most correct..

Beside, it's ALL RANDOM. That's why the dude with 99 attack can still hit several 0's in a row, it's a very random game. :wall:

I was pointing out the flaws in the post, one of the benefits of higher attack is being able to use better weapons is it not?

I would love to participate, but I won't have the time. Personally, I have 99 attack, and do not regret getting it one bit.

If Attack levels actually "worked" or had some theory behind them, then yes your theory would be right, but because RS-hitting is pretty much based entirely on luck and +strength rather than attack and +attack.

Jagex need to sort the Attack skill out, and have always had too but they can't.

Get both -.-

A maxed attack with moderate strength is dominance in no-armor f2p fights. It's second only to 99 range in the scale of wtfpwnage of medium level players. Your foe, regardless of his strength, will be eating too much to hit you back. High strength is always useful to dish out hard hits that force your foe to eat, but without attack your foe could barely be concerned and will eat at his own convenience.
