Bloodredsword
is a stupid [wagon] spyware program designed to keep tabs on kids that my mom installed on our desktop computer about 2 years ago. It's basically a piece of crap....and if you want to know how I REALLY feel...look up :P I never knew about it until a couple days ago...apparently my mom got really paranoid one day for some reason. I tried to uninstall it IN the application...by obviously clicking uninstall. I restarted, tried launched it just to make sure it was gone(You launch it by going into run--->cps-->type in password, it pops up) and it still came up. And it still functions 100%. So naturally I try uninstalling it again. "Uninstall application is missing." WTF. Does this not seem totally sketchy to anyone else? Anyway...it doesn't show up on any antivirus/spyware programs that I've used...how the hell do I get rid of it? Thanks for any help...and ignore my surly mood : Listen to the mighty words of Bloodredsword. Tip it MGC Xbox live leader board!

Bloodredsword
If you could find the related registry entries and files you could get rid of it pretty easy. If you could explain to me what I'm looking for and where I can find those I could.....but as I'm a complete computer [developmentally delayed].... Listen to the mighty words of Bloodredsword. pryomancer
You shouldn't mess with the registry if you don't even know what it is. I'm not poking fun or anything, but deleting just one wrong thing can totally screw up your pc.
dsavi
Amen to that. :uhh:
pryomancer
To add to that, if you do ever find you are editing the registry, always make a backup, even pro users do this, you never know what you might break.
Bloodredsword
I do know what the registry is...and I do know NOT to mess with it. I've heard enough horror stories :-# Anyone have a fix for this? any download able program that will actually be able to detect it? Listen to the mighty words of Bloodredsword. pryomancer
Try googling something like 'iambigbrother removal' or similar, there are probably people trying to do the same or have found the solution for it.
Laura
http://www.download.com/Delete-Doctor/3000-2381_4-10791266.html?tag=mncol I used that to get rid of some program awhile ago that did the same thing as you described. Though, the only downside it that your computer will still see it as installed, since it didn't go through the Windows process. http://www.2-spyware.com/remove-iambigbrother.html A site that should direct you to removing it as well. Bloodredsword
So I ended up trying both programs laura posted, only the one in the second link found it(Spyware doctor) It found a bunch of other stuff also. Does anyone have expeirience with Spyware doctor? It's $30....so I don't really know if that's worth it. Also, thanks everyone who's posted so far. <3 you guys Listen to the mighty words of Bloodredsword. Tip it MGC Xbox live leader board!
Arixe
First off, can't you ask your mom to uninstall it? And don't purchase a $30 program to get rid of one thing when there are many many free alternatives such as Lavasoft's Adaware, AVG antivirus, or Spybot S&D As laura posted http://www.2-spyware.com/remove-iambigbrother.html should tell you how to manually get rid of it. It also states under "Other programs to remove IamBigBrother:" that Windows Defender(it provides a direct link to the download) will remove it for you. If you want to remove it manually, follow the instructions for what files and registry entries to delete on the link above^^. And follow this guide http://www.2-spyware.com/news/post226.html for learning registry basics. Just remember to backup the registry, double check the names of the entries before changing them, and always always always know what EXACTLY the entry is you are looking for (don't "surf" the registry, bad stuff can happen with the press of a key) Play it safe and you can get your computer free =D>

Second of all@Laura's link, as I said just 2 posts above this, her first link didn't work, and the second one is what had that $30 program, aswell as the manual solution. But there's no way I'm going to screw around in the registry. I know "how," but by no means do I know "what" I'm doing. Listen to the mighty words of Bloodredsword. Tip it MGC Xbox live leader board! thrash-boy
first google result for "iambigbrother uninstall": http://www.spywareremove.com/removeIamBigBrother.html scroll down the page a bit to 'IamBigBrother Manual Removal Instructions' I didn't read through it very much, but if someone who knows what there doing could read through it and confirm it looks correct, that would probably be good. Arixe
Did you attempt to use Windows Defender? And the second link I posted was a little tutorial so you can familiarize yourself with basic Windows Registry usage. ~And thrash-boy, that is basically the same tutorial as laura posted above. The link to their software download is a free version that only detects spyware/malware, but won't remove it (sure does you a lot of good #-o tells you it's there but does nothing about it,advertising at its best) Here's some links to free programs you might try to get rid of your problem http://www.microsoft.com/windows/products/winfamily/defender/default.mspx Windows Defender http://www.download.com/Ad-Aware-2008/3000-8022_4-10045910.html?tag=mncol Adaware 2008 http://www.download.com/Spybot-Search-amp-Destroy/3000-8022_4-10122137.html?tag=mncol Spybot S&D I HAVE the administrator account for the program Do you mean just Iambigbrother or the Windows Admin? I think Sloter was referring to the admin account for Windows(might be wrong, mind reading isn't my forte)
sloter
YOu could have jsut reinstalled your OS by now and been back to normal. You still haven't found a solution to my knowlegde, It might be somethignto thin about instead of wasting time and getting know where.

But there's no way I'm going to screw around in the registry. I know "how," but by no means do I know "what" I'm doing. It's not a scan, it's a permanent delete solution. You have to locate the folder that runs Iambigbrother, and then copy it from the bar at the top onto the program. Click Run, and it'll ask you to shut down your computer, restart and it will be gone. Though, I'd like to verify with someone else, will deleting the files that make it run, fix his problems? 1,000th post. :-$
dsavi
Likely. I can't think of a way in which a program could be independent of its core files. On second thought, a program independent of its core files (Thus being resistant to attempts to uninstall it and easily duplicating itself) would be more or less a virus and pretty much illegal. Ok, in that case, try the first program. First, locate where the folder is, and then copy the location to the program. Hit run, restart, and it should be gone. Just in case, make a restore point first.
