check the picture..its an old version..and the only con for using it is that it give you bugs....which are harmless if you have under 50000 of them...i would recommed to scan your comp if you are planning on using it...scan every month and for scanning i would recommend Ad-Aware (newest version)...This software scans for everything from bugs---to---high risk viruses. I am using swiftkit followed by scans monthly. Scanning monthly will also allow remove your temporary internet files, which is good because this frees up some hardrive space.

If your still unsure about using swiftKit i would say dont use it at all

With the amount of viruses out these days its recommended to scan your computer once every 2 or 3 days, with a top ranked antivirus.

Apart from this, Swift Kit doesnt have trials, its completely free..

I dont need a siggy no moar.

I know that its free... and just a reminder to never let your firewall off because then the bugs from switfkit can affect your internet connection.

Or just refrain from being stupid. If you know what you're doing, you're not getting any viruses.

Naturally it's advisable to have antivirus and scan regularly, just to be on the safe side.

It's kinda hard to 'not be stupid' on the internet Bauke.

I do respect how you said that, it is true people need to be more wary, but way too many sites, way too many people linking you to them, way too many people destroying your computer for no reason, other than, well.. nothing. :|

I dont need a siggy no moar.

Sure there are plenty of people around that are out to get inside your pc. Though if you keep a healthy bit of scepticism to what you download, you'll be fine. You don't automatically get infected by viruses. It happens by opening/downloading bad email attachments, download suspicious files, and accepting stuff on msn, and such.

Download stuff from trusted sources and don't go downloading everything you see, is the best advice.

Even a virus scanner can't help it if you're being stupid. If you deliberately download infected crap, even a virus scanner will be unable to get rid of it, in some occassions. Therefore, the best virus scanner is just yourself, being cautious and understanding about what's good and what not, on the internet.

Edit: I disagree with the fact that it's hard not to be stupid. It's quite a bit of common sense really. Honestly, I can't remember when I got my last virus, if I ever got one.

Mm, I pretty much agree with everything. As for that; I've had 5 trojans, accidents. Hosted by unknown people on a trusted website.

My fault?

Accidents can happen, ofcourse. My statements are a generalisation. Anyone can catch a virus on accident. That's also the reason I recommend a virus scanner. But in general I do believe that it's just a matter of not being stupid to stay safe.

Like "Bauke" said, don't post crap unless you know what you're talking about???

Waste of money? You clearly haven't heard of the Open Source (Free) Linux Ubuntu then?

----

Back on topic, If your an XP user then I recommend you get some protection, especially if your using accounts like Runescape, something I'd assume you wouldn't want to loose?

Get yourself one of those free AV's that have been mentioned along with the free ZoneAlarm Firewall.

OR

If you got some money to spare, get NOD32 Anti Virus, IMO

But yeah, SwiftKit is a great client for the game :)

Another thing, DO NOT USE AD AWARE!! It blows big gooey chunks of spew all over your computer. It does not update, and it does not catch everything.

Spybot search and destroy is the only decent free spyware program out there, it updates at least every 2-3 days and has real time protection, blocking those "spywares" from even being downloaded to your computer. Only download spybot from http://www.safer-networking.org

As I said, AD Aware Blows Chunks
