bronzewarrior Posted January 23, 2009 Share Posted January 23, 2009 sup, I just got armadyl full+inf boots+zgs+wand+book it's great gear for castle wars but some people always beat me out for the flag, even if i think i'm clicking really well. What i'm talking about is when the flag is dropped on the ground and everyone spams the flag with their mouse to pick it up. This one kid told me he changes ip and for a fast one. Rs works in 0.6 second ticks (ish) As long as your connection is fast enough to click it in the first 0.6 second stint, it will all depend on ip. 5 people click in the first 0.6 second, the person who gets will be the person with a certain ip, certain ip's will get 'priority' over people with other ip's. As i understand, the best ip is one with a low last number, and a second from last divisable by 8 (apparently, i've personally never ip changed but i know from days when my ip is automatically better it does help, i've also experienced it in many many many many wars and games in cw) The system was put in place for something else very early on in rs, i can't remember what or where, but it was seen in a jmod post a fair time ago, and the same system was carried for the flag drops. More like what difference your connection makes. I get a 9 millisecond ping time at the best times, 80ms at others. My IP has zero to do with it. 9 ms is .009 seconds, something that's going to have virtually no difference in my clicking speed. Faster reflexes and to some extent connection will matter. There are so many reasons, of which IP is NOT one, that you can't blindly go saying things. Honestly, last time this came up me (computer consultant), a programing major, and a computer science major all dismissed this as inane balderdash. You have zero proof; you admitted you are clueless about it; you know nothing of gateway routing between your computer and Jagex servers, yet you are clueless persisting with 'yeah well my friends can beat me, IT HAS TO BE THEIR IP!!!'. It has to do with network lag, computer lag, response time, Jagex server lag, network priority tags, ISP level one provider, cable modems, cable modem downstream signal power, mouse latency times, connection loads, time of day, and routing configuration for EVERY SINGLE SERVER (at times 30+) between you and Jagex. You are simply dismmissing all of that and saying 'he can beat me! its his ip address!' The only way you could even say it does is depending on IP class which is Class A Class B and Class C And the only difference between the classes is how many people are assigned each class. Class A has the most people on it and C the least but this still wouldnt effect runescape let alone your connection your ISP and Bandwidth determine that more than anything else. Click Me!!!!! The full set comes to -15 accuracy if I remember right, get karils if you want magic defense, or bandos if you want to show off while meleeing. Ping and connection speed have no change whatsoever, rs works in 0.6 second intervals, everything that happens in that 0.6 seconds would normally all have exactly the same chance of happening. What ip you have gives you priority in the system. Yes somebody with a beter connection will have a better chance of gettting a click in the 0.6 second windor, but outside of that it is ip priority. I know this is how it works through alot of personal expeience and whitnessing it multiple times, i am not blindly saying it is true, im confidently saying it is true. You can carry on in your ignorance and not try it for yourself and keep saying it is wrong, and never getting the flag drops in cw and letting the people who know it works getting it, or you can try for yourself, its up to you. Look it up yourself, it's not as if your IP can even change; unless your going through a proxy, you end up with one of your level 3 provider's assigned IP bloc that your never going to go out of. I can't specifically test it, as it only changes when they decide to assign me a new one (which hasn't happened yet). When I said not change, I meant change out of your local sector's IP range, which it can't and won't do. Similar to people who use unicorns at abby demons(not ranging/in void). Like I said before, if you want mage defense while meleeing, use karils. Arma is only 10 more mage defense than karils, and if he wants defense, a dfs would make up that lost 10 defense while boosting melee by a bit, using a whip of course. If ips dont work then i'll just use a dspear to push people away :mrgreen: . I am pretty sure he mentioned that because it has a very high mage defence, and considering he is talking about the flag, he wants the mage defence to be safe. Like I said before, if you want mage defense while meleeing, use karils. I honestly don't play castle wars that much, but expecting to be in control of the flag at all times with no need to attack would rule out scoring and if he just runs around with the enemy flag after aquiring it his team will never score, which I doubt that they would like. I've ehard the "flag holding" technique mentioend before, but again, assumign that you'll be in control of the flag at ALL times with no need t attack seems a bit presumptious. I don't know if this is unusual, but all I have to do is powercycle my router (unplug it, let it sit, and plug it back in) and I get a shiny, brand new IP.
