Need some summoning help please.

Hello guys.

I'm new to summoning and I'd like to ask a few questions.

You can take your pouches to Bogrog and he'll give you some shards back for them, but what type of shards does he give you? Just the normal Spirit shards?

Where is the best place to get certain types of charms? I seem to be in need of Crimson charms at the moment, is there any tips on acquiring a good number of these fast?

Thanks.

Just a quick post to straighten things out for you.

SHARDS are what you get back from Bogrog. The things you can buy in stores or from other players.

Crimson, Blue, Green and Gold.. are CHARMS which are dropped from various NPC's. These are un-tradeable.

To date the best way to train summoning (when I say best I mean FASTEST.. which is also the most EXPENSIVE) is by bursting/barraging rock lobsters in Waterbirth Island Dungeon.

The best way to train summoning is using mostly your crimson charms.

Here is a link to quite possibly the BEST summoning guide in.. well in the world.

Kent's Guide to Summoning Mastery

If you need more basic general information try reading Tip.It's Skill Guide info on summoning located HERE!

(I am unsure if Kent's guide covers the basics or not)

Apparently, my signature was to big.

You get back 70% of the shards used to make the pouch. Beware of high level pouches because u need to have a certain level higher than the level needed to make the pouch. You can get crimson charms from greater demons, waterfiends (most), and dust devils.

I think I'll go for Dust Devils, don't really want the hassle of Waterfiends.

Do they only drop one a time aswell?

Cheers.

Yeah only one at a time, rock lobsters drop 2 of any charm at a time. I'd just slay to be honest. Slayer xp is always nice.

Most slayer NPC's drop crimson charms?

It doesn't matter about if Slayer monsters drop charms, but the average charm rates from Slayer. This is surprisingly high, but you'll get much less money, exp, and charms from Slayer.

The only reason to Slay is for Slayer exp, which is by itself a valuable thing.

I'm at dusties atm, surprised that Crimson isn't 100% rate.

No monster (other than Bork) drops any charm 100% of the time.

I would highly suggest Waterfiends, they aren't as much as a hassle as them seem!

Don't they need anti-fire pots and pray pots?

Actually, now looking at your stats a bit closer I would just stay at Dust Devils for now, and go to the Waterfiends at around 68 summoning. (for the "mighty" Bunyip)

You should bring prayer pots to protect against the Ranged Attack of the fiends. Also, before each trip, drink only a dose of antifire potion and run to the larger spot (across the pond) with Mage Prayer activated.

So just take an antifire pot, the other essentials and then just take prayer pots?

Don't take an antifire pot at all, just take a dose right before the trip.

Your sig says that you are cb 106, so i don't think waterfiends would be very fast for you. Try cockroach soldiers, they die fast and their drop rate of crimsons is around 35-40%. And their other drops are really good too.

No, Cockroach Soldiers shouldn't be considered for anyone!
