runemetsa
Hi there :D I'm making a music video for a Finnish Artist titled 'City Samurai'. And I'm needing help with that. First of all, I don't really know what kind of video this should be #-o . But what makes this fit into the Gallery is, that I'm going to do this with Chroma Key. So, I need help with the backgrounds. Do you know any good softwares to make something like this? I was thinking of making the backgrounds in 3D, after reading Dsavi's topic about Blender, I tried to use that. But I think it's more for models. So, the song is called City Samurai. So it needs to be some sort of Japanese/Chinese stuff, with ninjas and samurais and everything :D And the backgrounds should be themed the same. Any ideas for me? Estonian dude
When it would be City Samurai, then you should look at some Japanese comics. Some Naruto guys and whatever could also be City Samurais. So I've noticed this thread's regulars all follow similar trends. RPG is constantly dealing with psycho exes.Muggi reminds us of the joys of polygamy.Saq is totally oblivious to how much chicks dig him.I strike out every other week.Kalphite wages a war against the friend zone.Randox pretty much stays rational.Etc, etc

Shiny
I would hand animate it all, to give a sketchy feel, because that way, although longer, gives you complete control and can look really really good. You getting paid?

Shiny
Dsavi, stop trying to coax him in with open source products. I reckon he should splash $5000 for a professional animation program :P

I reckon he should splash $5000 for a professional animation program :P Who pay's for software? Seriously though, what's the lyrics and stuff of the song? I'm sure you could think of something cool to do. An animated 3D bit would take a lot of time.
dsavi
I pay for software  Don't be hatin' True that it would take long. You'd have to learn for a long time to be productive enough to make an entire 3-4 minute music video.

You getting paid? The artist is my friend, so I don't know yet if I'm going to get paid. @ Dsavi, I will be making just the backgrounds in 3d, I'm going to act there with a blue/green screen, so I'm not really needed to make an animation. Big Buck Bunny is awesome, I have seen that many times. Is it really made in Blender? @ Nadril, the song doesn't really have lyrics, just some random chinese/japanese exlamations. The song itself sounds bit like original chinese music with bamboo pipes and guqins. But then it's mixed with rock and pop. I can see if I will be able to post it here. DementedHero
Adobe After effects is great for finishing the whole thing, also great 3d support and stuff.

remoteman
It really depends on the music, i have images of the band members dancing through a side-scrolling vector Asian-themed landscape, which could work for something poppy, but not for a metal band hah. In my opinion going for a deliberately unrealistic feel works a lot better than going for a 3d environment where you've tried to make it as life-like as possible, and it just won't look as good unless you've got a team of workers and multiple years of experience behind you. I use premiere pro and after effects for my video work, i find both easy to use and they produce great results. C4D for 3d stuff, but it all costs money, i use them at school. Goodluck with it, keep up updated :D "A disbelief in magic can force some poor souls into believing in authority and business"

runemetsa
The 3d background wouldn't be anything too fancy, just really simple. [Star Wreck][PM me][My gallery][DeviantArt][Cool T-shirts!][iron Sky - Trailer is now out!]
