OnIIx
8800GTS 320MB, NON-OC'ed, 2GB DDR2 800, Q6600. And yet I can play Crysis V high crack on DX9 @ constant 30FPS. (1024x768) My Core/Shader/Memory clocks are slower than an 8600GTS XXX Edition, yet that can only do Crysis on medium? I'm confused... Thanks Current goal: Legends, Regicide, Roving Elf's, Barrows RFD, 95+ Attack.
Nadril
Crysis isn't that hard to play...
JoeDaStudd
Your post is really hard to understand what you want to know. I'm guessing your saying the 8800 performs worse then the 8600 which is BS. The 8800 is a far, far better card. Nadril
He's saying the 8800 is performing better, which confuses him because of lower Core/Shader and memory clocks. Do you actually have an 8600GTS XXX Edition? I find that most reviews really wimp out when it comes to crysis. And anyways the 8800GT is just overall better than the 8600GT. Not to mention Crysis is very CPU dependent as well.
Dracion1
Couple of things, you're running a low resolution. Most reviews tend to be done at higher ones such 1680x1050 or 1920x1200, which is more twice the number of pixels on your screen. Also, review sites nearly always use the benchmarking tool. This deliberately stresses your PC by showing the game's maximum capabilities, meaning the fps rate they get will be a lot lower than the one you'll actually get when playing. Dracion1
Which developer is 'they'? Crytek? It'll happen soon enough though. "In the beginning, the universe was created. Doomster
The 8800GTS performance comes from having 3 or 4 times as many texture units (G80 or G92 core) and 2 1/2 or 2x as many raster operation units as the 8600GTS. Comparing clock speed between different cores or even different feature disables of the same core does not work.
