Would Mithril Dragons be suicide?

I've read two different guides on Mithril Dragons and it seems like these things are the most dangerous things I can fight. Not only do I want the challenge, but if I kill one, I finish the Fremennik Diary.

 

 

 

At my levels, could I survive one? Even better, could I survive enough to get chewed bones as a drop to finish off the Barbarian Training?

it's really not dangerous, but killing them would be very slow at your levels...I'm betting that ranging with ruby and diamond bolts would be your best bet. You could probably kill like 4 per trip.

Nope, maybe two. Honestly. Plus defence really matters, seeing as they use all three att styles(two if you range) and so you can still only protect from one. My first time was with almost same stats as now, but only 67 range. lolz. did it just offa a whim. took 1 whole trip and the begining of a 2nd trip to kill just one. I killed 4 before i realized it was beyond not worth it. If you're just doing it for the diary, then just bank wat you'll need for one trip, (including games tele) and then go kill, tele wen ur out of food or done, (home or lumby tabs ftw so u can restore pray) and hurry back. if you kill the one right up the stairs, you can leave, do all that and come back and kill it while it's at the same hp it was when you left. ;) Nothings really suicide...almost nothing...most things are just really hard at certain levels.

Could I melee them? I don't have any barrows stuff. The ranging method seems so risky (with the ruby-e bolts).

I know...I don't have great stuff, but I haven't been a member that long and don't have a lot of spare cash and I don't have great combat stats to try stuff like barrows or a big clan to battle with.

Use the range gear with ruby(e) till half the diamonds(e) for rest, use eagle eye and ranging pot.

But anywayz, i'd still say ranging is definitely your best option. Especially since you don't have that good barrows, and (no offense) your melee stats are kinda weak...hell mine are compared to those things. So range them with your range stuff, and protect from range, and use antifire pot w/ antidrag shield. The black dhide should negate their mage att down considerably, so most likely even monkfish or sharks should give you a good trip, as opposed to super expensive brews and super restores. Trust, it's not as scary as it used to be, but it can get frustrating if you make a mistake. Also, make sure you have a glory in the bank in case you do happen to die(which you shouldn't let happen, just tele and come back)OH, almost forgot, it may be better to use a ring of life first trip to get the hang of it, and then a recoil afterward which can aid a lot in the killing of the drag.

Since you've been very helpful, would you recommend just waiting a little bit until I get over 100 combat or something? Maybe until I save up for some barrows gear or something? Like I mentioned, I've read a couple of guides that seem to indicate minimum levels and gear much better than I'm using.

 

 

 

I don't want to risk any of my stuff. Losing it would not be fun to me.

If I go, I want to kill one for the diary and at least one chewed bones for the Barbarian Training. That's really it. I don't want it to take me hours for one kill or risk my high level stuff or pay through the nose for bolts I might not use for a long time.

Well, if you really want to, get your ranged up, and do it whenever you feel like it better. But there's no really exact level when they go easy - and no instant option of getting 99 ranged, defence and hp is available.

 

 

 

You could always go to range them with diamond bolts, just for a try - and then, if one doesn't seem to take enough damage, and you keep being hit and having to eat all the time, use some one click teleport.

Use melee prayer protection.

 

Use a leafbladed sword: stab attack style.

 

Anti-fire pot, super set

Ranging is definitely your best bet but if you just want the 1 kill you SHOULD be able to just scrape it via melee. Piety helps no end.

 

 

 

If you are looking to do these for profit, don't. Most high level players avoid these things as money is far easily obtained elsewhere.

If your still having doubt you can get a friend with higher levels levels to half hp one and you can just finish it off.

I don't think it would be too hard; i killed one with melee using only 2 sharks O.o I think i got lucky but it still got me to do the task:L And you don't need to get chewed bones, you can use mangled bones from searching the skeletons around the floors in the Ancient Cave ;)

Mangled bones don't advance you in the Barbarian Training. They DO advance you in the diary, but you still have to have killed a Mithril Dragon for one of the hard tasks on the Fremennik Diary.

u can easely kill 1 to finisch that part of the frem diarie. and in staid of wasting time and money on killing miths to get chewed bones, just kill 1 'confused barbarian' to get mangled bones, make a pyre ship with it and run away/kill the angry barbarian spirit.

And besides dont they consider chewed bones as a rare drop? It that is the case you could have to kill quite a few of mithrils just to finish that part of barb training. Not really worth it in my oppinion.
