IMSecure
I read in another topic that if Jagex released more powerful armour (85+ Defense) that it would be over-powered. I'm not debating WETHER Jagex should release this amrour, which I think they should, but how to make sure this armour is not overpowered. 1. Make it untradeable - This solves the problem of the armour costing too much (such as PvP Armour) 2. Make it a quest reward - The armour could come as a quest reward so that you can only have 1 set, making it more valuable. However, you can always get it back but there are penalties. The penalties could be paying a high price, completing several quests, gaining a certain amount of exp, etc. Something that requires lots of work. 3. Have a time penalty - If you loose the armour, you must wait X Days to get it back. 4. Have it decay - similar to barrow armour so its hard to camp forever. I'm not talking about a 1 hour decay where the item disappears though. Maybe a 5-10 Hour time limit where the armour must be fixed. What are your ideas so that armour cannot become overpowered Note: I'm not saying Jagex should release high level armour. I'm not saying they will either. I'm just asking what you guys think Jagex should do IF they ever DO add high level armour.
pulli23
But that wouldn't make it not overpowered, it would just prevent getting it from being too easy/difficult! The STATS are what make something overpowered, and nothing but STATS can solve that! First they came to fishingand I didn't speak out because I wasn't fishing Then they came to the yewsand I didn't speak out because I didn't cut yews Then they came for the oresand I didn't speak out because I didn't collect ores Then they came for meand there was no one left to speak out for me. IMSecure
I don't think stats alone make something over-powered. D Claws are overpowered, not because of their stats, but because of their special. Karil in my opinion is underpowered, again, not because of stats, but because of its lame special. Suiku
What about we stop thinking that weapons are "over-powered" to realize they are "awesome"? Veteran Cape Owner (10 year)
Ned
If Jagex releases weapons and armor more powerful than today, the combat system will likely need a bit of tweaking. You are virtually untouchable by Melee and Ranged (weaker to magic but still not that much of a weakness with full statius, Elysian shield, piety, 99 defense, super defense potion, and protect from melee. That's not a likely situation, but if better items are introduced the stats of everything should be modified like the person above said :). Want to help the Tip.It Crew? Mike_Ike111
Or better yet, have the items unavailable in PvP.
Sir_Kurity
Making its harder to get won't make it any less overpowered. FAIL. O.O
Danil445
Good solution. Another solution could be disabling prayer when using it, so the wearers aren't invulnerable. ;) Proud owner of the Quest Cape since 31/08Quest suggestion: The Shadow of a Delver
JoeDaStudd
Good solution. Another solution could be disabling prayer when using it, so the wearers aren't invulnerable. ;) Or a slow stat drain effect say 1 combat stat (excluding defense) per minute or maybe just 1 or 2 hp per minute. Another thing would be to greatly reduce the effectiveness of other combat styles making it and impossible armour to tank mage/range in. quelmotz
This isn't weakening the armor, it's making the armor harder to use properly. Or you can say this makes the user more annoyed about losing the armor rather than making the armor weaker. Just wait until the armor comes out before talking about lowering its stats. If you want, there're plenty of overpowered weapons like the whip, godsword(special), dbow(special), etc. Click here for an awesome suggestion to revive smithing!
