September 2, 200520 yr Trying to think of some that haven't been mentioned here ... John 5 (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/John_5) AKA John Lowery is absolutely A-MAZ-ING. Ex-Marilyn Manson guitarist and current live guitarist for Rob Zombie during the Ozzfest stint. Although the work he did with Manson was rather simplistic, due to Manson's megolamaniac complex, his solo stuff on his solo album Vertigo is absolutely amazing. Instrumental rock, metal, blues, bluegrass ... it's all there.
September 2, 200520 yr #1 Mikael ÃÆÃââââ¬Ã¦kerfeldt - Opeth #2 Devin Townsend - SYL #3 Jeff Loomis - Nevermore #4 Dan SwanÃÆÃâÃâö - Nightingale #5 Peter Lindgren - Opeth Jeff Loomis is the only guitarshredder I can stand :)

December 10, 200520 yr hmm, i like in no real order: the guitarists in the allman brother's band, Duane Allman and [bleep]ey Betts Eric Clapton Dave Gilmour Jimmy Paige and of course Jimi Hendrix, listening to all along the watchtower is...rapturous
January 24, 200620 yr 5. Jimy paige (greatest ever to be in an actual "band") Umm...what are you talking about, Eric Clapton was in several bands, and Jimi Hendrix founded his own bands that he starred in, but he was still in an "actual" band... Anywho...Not in real critical order, these are just in the order they came into my head 1. Eddie Van Halen 2. Jimi Hendrix 3. Eric Clapton 4. David Gilmour 5. Jimmy Page Yeah, everyone generally has pretty much the same answers for top 5 or so, it would be more interesting to list like top 20 or something, so we would have more opinion-based replies. Also, people honestly don't give EVH enough credit, he's a great guitarist, in my opinion probably the best in technical measures (awmagwd dont flame me I said TECHNICAL). All morons hate it when you call them a moron.-Holden Caulfield, The Catcher in the Rye
January 24, 200620 yr 2. Jimmi hendrix (but of course) 3. Eric clapton (yup another white guy) 4. BB king (one of the founders of blues) 5. Jimy paige (greatest ever to be in an actual "band") I actually like your selection. You actually chose guys with relatively different music playing styles. BB King is great. I love blues.
January 25, 200620 yr 1. Jimi Hendrix 2. Jimmy Page 3. Steve Vai 4. Yngwie Malmsteen 5. David Gilmour

January 26, 200620 yr I've just realised that of the 4 or 5 posts i've made in this topic, i haven't actually mentioned my favourite guitarists in any of them. Well, here goes: Stephen Carpenter - Deftones Dimebag - Pantera, Damageplan Hendrix Joe Satriani Jerry Cantrell - Alice In Chains Tom Morello - RATM, Audioslave Dave Navarro - Jane's Addiction, RHCP Zakk Wylde - Black Label Society, Ozzy Osbourne Andreas Kisser - Sepultura Corey Beaulieu - Trivium Michael/Christopher Amott - Arch Enemy Willie Adler - Lamb Of God Ken Susi - Unearth Kirk and Lars I could handle. January 29, 200620 yr 1. Jimmy Hendrix 2. Jimmy Paige 3. Slash 4. Angus Young 5. Kurt Cobain. Kurt actually isn't the best of guitarists, but he is my favorite person in a band so he goes on my list.
