Wikipedia defines rape as:

A crime wherein the victim is forced into sexual activity against his or her will. Effectively, it co-opts the victim's own sexual anatomy as a weapon of domination. It is considered, by most societies, to be among the most severe crimes.

To add to that, Statutory rape is non forced sexual activity between two agreeing parties, whereas one of the two are under the age of consent.

So in Canada, if the person is 16+ and agree, it is legally fine.

In the posters case, the laws are probably different. I'm assuming wherever you live, the age of consent may be 18+. So your friend will have to wait until he's 21 to try anything. Haha.

Edit: Who's idea was it to censor rape but not raping, sex, or sexual? Thats odd.

Blame the people on these forums that insult others with that word.

Anyway on topic, 12 is far to young. Tell your parents if they refuse to end things. That's what I would do.

Well, if your not sure wether to end this relation ship, consolt my dating calculator.

If you're a guy (in this situation a 15 y-o guy), devide his age by 2 and add 7. This equation will give you the age of the YOUNGEST girl you can date withought it deing nasty.

So, he should stick will girls his age, not 12 year olds

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ephebophilia

Ephebophilia, as most strictly defined, refers only to an attraction, not to sexual activity (although sexual activity can be involved). It is used in contrast with pedophilia, which is an attraction to pre-pubescent individuals. In more casual usage, however, pedophilia is often used more broadly in the western world, to describe an attraction to any person younger than the legal age of consent. For example, the term "pedophile priests" is frequently used in the context of the Roman Catholic Church sex abuse scandal, although much of the sexual behavior involved was with adolescent (i.e. post-pubescent) teens.

Characteristics

* The nature of ephebophilia is not fully understood, and a variety of perspectives are held. Some regard ephebophilia as merely a milder form of pedophilia, in which the object of attraction is closer to what is "normal" than with a true pedophile. According to one theory, ephebophilia is a chronophilia, i.e. a paraphilia in which the paraphile's sexual/erotic age is discordant with his or her actual chronological age, and is instead concordant with the age of the partner.

Others argue that a consistent preference for adolescents is merely a natural and normal attraction to individuals at or near the peak of their sexual capability, and reflects a biologically "normal" reproductive strategy (in contrast to a preference for pre-pubescents, which does not and is therefore pathological). Sociobiological research shows that primate males tend to prefer young females of reproductive age. For example, a study on human male preferences showed that males from the age of 7 years and up tended to prefer the faces of 17-year-old girls over those of other ages. (See Sexual attraction of men.)

* Attraction to adolescents is not commonly regarded by psychologists as inherently pathological, only when it interferes with other relationships, becomes an obsession adversely affecting other areas of life, or causes distress to the subject. An exclusive attraction to adolescents can lead to difficulties when the younger person in such a relationship reaches adulthood.

* Sexual desire that includes adolescents along with older individuals is common among adults with either a heterosexual or a homosexual orientation; this is not labeled "ephebophilia" because the attraction to adolescents is not exclusive of adults. In some cultures, for adults to include adolescents among their sexual interests is considered normal, such as those in which adolescent girls have routinely been married to adult men. Nonetheless, an open attraction to adolescents may be ridiculed or disparaged as inappropriate or unhealthy, compared to forming a relationship with "someone your own age"; an attraction to adolescents is something one is expected to "grow out of." In Japanese society, the attraction of men towards teenage girls (high-school students) is a visible cultural phenomenon. The manifestations of such attraction, such as lolicon art, school uniform fetishes, and sexual relations with teenage girls (e.g. enjo kosai) are tolerated more than in the West.

I'm one of the people who think that it is natural (even if you exclusively want young females). But in the case of your friend, they are both young and are never going to be mature (even people in their 20's are not 'mature'). The whole dating someone your own age is a myth but works better in practice because you have more things in common if they are of a similar age. There is nothing wrong with dating young people so long as it is not an too much of an obsession (obsession is generally bad anyway) especially when you are under 20.

I think your problem is not age but your relation to your friend̢̢̮ââ¬Å¡Ã¬Ã¢ââ¬Å¾Ã¢s girlfriend, you are being overprotective of your sister and you think she is just your young daughter. She is going to be exposed to relationships no matter what so you should be glad it's with a friend and not some scumbag. That way you can monitor what they are doing easier, making sure she isn̢̢̮ââ¬Å¡Ã¬Ã¢ââ¬Å¾Ã¢t doing anything TOO stupid. Other then that if she has started puberty it really inst your business, regardless of what laws say. You should respect family decisions so long as it's not dangerous ('hard' drugs and suicide are examples you should try and prevent) and they are informed of what might happen.

He's trying to hit her V, shoot him.

In all seriousness, though, I was watching a program a while back about teenage pregnancies. It was like The Sun (UK trashey tabloid) on TV.

There were 13 and 16 year old girls pregnant with 20 and 21 year olds, it was sad. The girls couldn't comprehend anything, really.

I'd say have a good long talk with your sister, and make sure your friend isn't taking advantage, and that she knows whats going on. If he is, get a nice old balaclava and a bat, as stated before by others...

Around the 11-17 age range, I'd try not to go over 2 years in age difference, though I do know a 17 year old that goes out with an 11 year old, I try not to get involved in that.

:? BTW, this is a little off topic, but even my health teacher last year stated that middle school and high school realationships are just practice ones. He actuly encouraged us to have realationships at our age, so that we get more experieced with being in one (i dont mean for sex purposes).

So yes , highschool dating is sorta for fun, but you do gain exp (cant spell the real word...) in dating.

BTW, so you dont think im a ped. for what i said, the youngest girl ive ever liked was 14.

Anyway, a 15 year old going out with a 12 year old does seem a little bit unusual, but in an adult relationship a 3 year age gap is perfectly normal.

Here is an update for anyone who cares. Matt (the 15 year old) was beaten pretty badly (cracked jaw) by some year 8 (just gone 14 years old lmao) who was also after my sister, Matt is currently unable to eat. I personally think this is great, even though it sounds a little mean. Sadly the year 8 now has no chance with my sister, which is bad because he is a legend and deserves anyone that he wants ;)

Hey my brother is 18 and I'm just a few days short of 16. However my brothers girlfriend is just a few months older then me. They have been going out for 2 years now. Age diffrence of a few years is never a bad thing (Especially when the guy is the older one, it all has to do with maturity) . I only have a problem with it when when its outragous like 18 and 35 (I've only discovered one instence of that happening and I hope never to find another).

Also never try to break up a relationship, it will only result in everone involved hateing you.

As for your update.... I really don't know what to make of it.

The age difference isnt a problem. Its because the girl is so young.

I really dont know what to say... Youre happy your friend got beat up and you think it's bad that a guy, who's only way to catch a girl's attention is to beat up her boyfriend, wont have a chance with your own sister... :?

Since your friend getting beat up doesnt bother you I guess you werent really pleased about the situation in the first place. And I also would like you to elaborate on why this guy is a legend. Unless he fought of a pack of wolves who were attacking the school then I think he's an immature guy who thinks he can use violence to get attention and popularity. (Even IF he did fight of a pack of wolves that doesnt erase the stupid things he did.)

Anyway... I'm really really confused here :?

Anyway... I'm really really confused here :?

Legend clearly isn't used as much in America as it is in Australia. If I posted an MSN chat log 30% of the words word be legend or legendary, I didn't actually mean a real lot by it.

And yeah, he got beat up by someone younger than him, and was a real [wagon] towards me so of course I wasn't happy with the situation.

If you read the start of the thread you would have seen that I didn't really want him beaten up, but his jaw is cracked and I didn't do it so I personally find it to be good as he acted like an [wagon].

And, I dunno where a pack of wolves came from, I take it you were looking at the real meaning of legend, and you were still way off.

An unverified story handed down from earlier times, especially one popularly believed to be historical.

So really taking on a pack of wolves would have made him a hero:

A person noted for feats of courage or nobility of purpose, especially one who has risked or sacrificed his or her life

Well by legend I thought you meant someone famous or who's a great individual, that's why I was really confused... Oh and the pack of wolves thing is just something I came up with randomly. I was just saying that unless he did something special like that I wouldnt see him as (my "version" of) a legend. And I do understand how you feel about him getting beat up. Re-reading my first post I see I didnt really word it out that great and/or didnt understand everything as I do now. Anyway I'm sorry for the minor misunderstanding. I wasnt doubting your thinking, it's just that I didnt really understand everything but it's all clear now.
