Tips on Moving

Probably just be friendly and involve yourself in most of the activities. Take up after school activities like sports or whatever you want really. Just keep creating opportunities to meet more people. Be a yes man

The only people who tell you that you can't do something are those who have already given up on their own dreams so feel the need to discourage yours.

He's a senior, not the kid who ate his boogers in third grade. Nobody's going to push him down and take his lunch money while he cries.

As long as you aren't an annoying jerk (and you don't seem to be one, from your posts), and you aren't moving to the middle of nowhere (I do have my doubts about NC...), you should be fine.

Chances are, there'll at least be one person like you. Most likely more. At my school, I suppose most people are pretty nice, but one of my friends moved here in the middle of the year, and he's pretty popular now. Just make it clear what you enjoy doing and meet people.

But don't try too hard to make friends. That usually fails.

Ah, thanks for the tips guys...

If anyone lives in North Carolina, can you tell me what it's like there?

Lent covered some stuff. I've only met a few people from Texas, so I can't comment too much on that kind of stuff, but North Carolina especially near Raleigh (around the area where I spent the first 18 years of my life) there is a LOT of diversity. The school I went to didn't have a majority (race-wise) and I kind of miss that since the school I'm at now is 96% white. North Carolina is an amazing state with a lot of job opportunities. I assume your dad will be working in the triangle, which is the Raleigh-Durham area that has a lot of computer and pharmaceutical businesses. We also have amazing colleges, so it's a good time to move in-state.

Right now I live in the mountains in North Carolina, but I grew up where you're probably moving to. If you have any questions, feel free to ask.

And yeah, l0rd lives in the same town as me and there is another user who lives in the western part of the state too, but I can't remember his name.

I don't talk to strangers very much, would that be a problem?

probably mate, you will most probably have to make more of an effort to be an outgoing person, at lest for a couple of months while you are still meeting people

I'd say that is quite the detriment, yes. Unless you want to try the "stealthily infilitrate a group without them knowing you're there, then slowly build up your prescense until you've become an accepted member of the group" method.

Buy a BMX, NC is the destination for a lot of pro BMXers... ;) . Yeah, moving is no fun. (Drove a cube van from Alberta to Southern Ontario, took a week) Just be ready for culture change? Don't automatically diss stuff, etc. You'll end up doing fine if you keep the same attitude you have.

Good luck
