Coming to grips on my anger, and how to control and focus it

Featured Replies

use your anger and focus it into the dark side.

then you can be a jedi, and be like

SHOOOP DA WOOP

I IS FIRIN MAH LAZORS!

because you'd use force lightning and people would mistake it for lazers.

and on topic. if you feel angry. just like. run around in circles quite rapidly.

or just walk away. or run away. really fast. get your anger out by getting the adrenaline out, by sprinting places.

How old are you? And what country do you live in?

Depending on your country if you're under the age of 18 you have the legal right to access free counselling without parental consent/authority. If it's free and the absolute best help you can get, use it. Don't resort to short-term fixes to a long-term problem.

The only people who tell you that you can't do something are those who have already given up on their own dreams so feel the need to discourage yours.

Try gardening, works for me (when I'm mad). ::'

Pureprayer, you're awesome.

P.S - changing personalities and behaviours is a long, slow and gradual process. At least attempt cognitive behavioural therapy and learn the different behaviours to help your situation. If you absolutely refuse to see a counsellor (people have great ideas but they're more of a short-term distraction rather than fixing the undesired behaviour) at least google online cognitive behavioural therapy and anger. Although most of these activities that the psychology websites can provide you with you can do yourself, the reason I recommended counselling/seeing a psychologist is because sometimes our anger isn't "just" anger, it could be many things, including an anxiety disorder. And sometimes it stems from environmental issues such as something that happened to you in your childhood that you need to come to terms with and activities can't fix that. Even if you think it can, it really can't, it will show unconsciously in your behaviour. If you try to hide it, it'll act out some other way.

Okay, put an elastic band over your wrist, and whever you start to feel angry, pull it back and snap it on your wrist (tight bands work best)

That'd piss me off. "Ow! Dammit!!!!"

Yea, really. I just happened to have a rubber band today, so I tried that, and it just pissed me off even more.

Wtf is with this rubber band method working for everything? People who self harm use this method when they think of cutting themselves and according to them it's quite effective.

Buy a punching bag ~100$

Or if that's still too expensive, buy a bag of rice and punch it

Goddess is definitely suggesting the best thing here: get help.

Aside from that, if you really are against seeing a counselor, I'd try to take up rugby. Wonderfully violent, great atmosphere on and off the field, plus it requires quite a bit of physical and mental concentration, so (for me at the least) it is a great stress reliever. Again though, listen to Goddess.

There's no such thing as regret. A regret means you are unhappy with the person you are now,

and if you're unhappy with the person you are, you change yourself. That

regret will no longer be a regret, because it will help to form the new,

better you. So really, a regret isn't a regret.

It's experience.

As Zierro said, workout. I just channel anger into exercises and that releases it and working out makes you feel better even without the anger, it works great for me.

Sorry bud, I like being under my covers in bed instead of being behind metal bars. Thanks for the help, though.

Aquarias: Every football season I try to release my anger through that method, and it works a lot. Too bad football only comes once a year. :x

There are plenty of free counselling services in your country, do a google search on the area you live in.

Rugby's the opposite season ;)

Although since you're in the States, I guess it would be hard to find a club to join, I'm pretty sure Canada is the only place in the Americas where it is played.
