Horatio666
This will be my first time getting a laptop so I want to ask what you think I should have on it Basically, I want to be able to play most games. Wi-Fi (never mind, I've heard they all have it  ) At least 2gb memory (again never mind) Hard drive: help me Wireless (probably on all laptops now) And capable of lasting a while without being plugged in to recharge battery I want to be able to download GIMP (You know the GNU Image thing) you know what that means Possibly Sony Vegas And if possible, save photos to CD/DVD (speaking of which any help on that would be appreciated, I don't know how to do it!) Budget: 980 euros Country: Ireland (as someone went and found out  ) Also, this is my first thread, so please bear with me. I'm relatively new here "Probably the worst thing I do is take bubble baths. But manly ones." Sbrideau
Do you have a budget? Anyway, this laptop seems very good, and is from one of the best brands there is: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.a ... ASUS%20N80 Edit: Maybe I misunderstood here, you want to buy a laptop or you want to know what you should have in a laptop?
JoeDaStudd
Basically, I want to be able to play most games. This adds a lot to the cost Wi-Fi Basic all modern laptops will have wifi At least 2gb memory The standard amount Hard drive: help me 120gb should be enough for a laptop, just get an external drive if you need more space I want to be able to download GIMP (You know the GNU Image thing) Any modern laptop should be fine with GIMP Possibly Sony Vegas Should be ok as long as you check the requirements And if possible, save photos to CD/DVD Just make sure its got a dvd burner and its NOT a netbook, pretty basic The big one is the gaming ability, if you need/want it it will cost more. Which games are you thinking of? Also budget and country would be a massive help [hide=Drops]Dragon Axe x11Berserker Ring x9Warrior Ring x8SeercullDragon MedDragon Boots x4 - all less then 30 kcGodsword Shard (bandos)Granite Maul x 3Solo only - doesn't include barrows[/hide][hide=Stats][/hide]

Thanks I want to buy one....but I want to know what I'd need on it (like RAM, graphics card etc.) Sorry if I didn't give enough info. My budget is at the moment 980 euro The reason I want to know what I'd need is because I'm trying to see if I could the same for cheaper "Probably the worst thing I do is take bubble baths. JoeDaStudd
I would get this. Up the ram to 4gb, get the 64 bit version of home premium and maybe upgrade the battery. Comes to less then 900 and should be amazing for most things. Gaming you should get away with medium settings on most games and high/max on 2 to 3 year old games. vesuvius27
I have the 13" version of that laptop. Runs fine. Everyone gets so irritated by Dell. My Blog - Fishing 82/
Laura
I have the 13" version of that laptop. Runs fine. Everyone gets so irritated by Dell.Because their support sucks. What's even worse is that they send you these computers knowing the issues and then they give you blatantly incorrect fix dates. I was told that their ATI drivers would be updated in January, they still are not and I was experiencing the same issues the last time I touched that computer. Horatio666
Well, that obviously means I shouldn't touch Dell with a barge pole "Probably the worst thing I do is take bubble baths. What few problems I have had with Dell products (the laptop's max screen brightness running on battery is capped in the BIOS to prevent accidental battery drains, 5 min fix) have been addressed quickly, and to my complete satisfaction. I spent less than a minute waiting for a representative. Their support is fine. My Blog - Fishing 82/

I spent less than a minute waiting for a representative. Their support is fine.I was sent three computers, all with the same issues. I spent 40 hours documented on the phone and four hours on the Dell Technical Chat minus the DellConnect function. I was sent one motherboard, four video cards (two of which were not correct), four wireless cards (because they forgot it on my order and on all the computers following, one was sent and didn't fit), one HDD (which wasn't the size I ordered) one 6GB RAM set, four fan sets which includes two CPU fans and two case fans. I contacted the Better Business Bureau, the Federal Trade Commission, a CNet journalist, the General Attorney for the State of New York, and Dell's legal center. After all of those were contacted, I received a phone call from Dell's Head of Boards (or something of the sort) and he promised me a refund and a compensation for my time. But I declined the compensation, as all I wanted was the refund. To this day, it is not processed. I have now filed at $21,000+ lawsuit against Dell because of their poor support and neglectfulness on consumer products. I'm glad you have experienced good things from Dell's customer support but there is no way I will ever recommend Dell ever again.

killerbeer0
ASUS X83b V2... It's what I have, very good value ($700) and has everything - even a graphics card. Only problem I have is that the touchpad is a little unresponsive and the keyboard and clicks are loud. Otherwise it is wonderful and I wholly recommend it. OH S***! He/she/it is back! I have this laptop and would definitely recommend it, it has great specs and a graphics card with only a few problems(difficult to press touch pad buttons, clackety keyboard and somewhat low battery life) for a very low price. Also with an awesome color scheme. :D
