Ring of Wealth at Aviansies

Featured Replies

Alright, so recently I've noticed a huge controversy over whether a ring of wealth decreases your addy bar drops at aviansies or not. Many people say that the ring of wealth increases the number of rune dagger drops that you get, therefore decreasing the number of potential addy bar drops.

First, lets take a look at the ring of wealth itself. Jagex stated in a postbag to the hedge (found here):

1) If thou consider the possessions of an enemy to be like a roulette wheel, then the 'rare' items so coveted by players are located on a second roulette wheel, that will only be spun shouldst thou roll a specific number on the first wheel.

The ring of wealth affects not the number which thou may achieve upon the first wheel, but should thou gain the precise number to allow thee access to the second, the ring will make thy chances of gaining an object on that second roulette wheel all the greater.

and into regular english:

If you think of the drops from a monster like a roulette wheel, then the "rare" items are located on a second roulette wheel, that will only be spun if the player should roll a specific number on the first wheel. The ring of wealth doesn't affect the number that one will get on the first wheel, but if one is to make it to the second table, then the ring will make the chances of getting an object on the second wheel greater.

So, basically what most people say is that if you wear a ring of wealth, you will get more rune daggers as they are supposedly in this "second wheel".

Personally, I disagree with this, because rune daggers don't seem to be in the second wheel. In the letter, it makes it sound like its pretty hard to get into the second wheel, and that in that second wheel, there are more "rare" drops. I wouldn't say that a rune dagger from aviansies is a "rare" drop, as most everyone knows you get them quite frequently. I think that if one was to get into this "second wheel", that you'd be getting dragon items, half keys, etc. I would say that rune daggers, along with addy bars, rune limbs etc., are on the outside wheel.

However, if this theory is true, then it would obviously be worth it to use a ring of wealth, because you'd be getting far more dragon drops and half keys.

I've used a ring of wealth at aviansies, and honestly I didn't notice any significant increase in rune dagger drops, or decrease in addy bar drops. Hell, I didn't notice a difference at all.

Thoughts?

Edit:  Just noticed the whole other thread on ring of wealth. Seems to be a bit of a different discussion... If mods feel the need to lock, go for it. If not, discuss :?

There are only 2 worthwhile rare drops from aviansies, well pricewise 1.

This means when one of your common drops is replaced you have a 1 in 4 chance that common drop will be replaced with a better drop.

I've tried both and noticed I walk away with more coins, less bars and after selling the bars less money with the RoW when compared to life or archers.

[hide=Drops]

  • Dragon Axe x11
    Berserker Ring x9
    Warrior Ring x8
    Seercull
    Dragon Med
Dragon Boots x4 - all less then 30 kc
    Godsword Shard (bandos)
    Granite Maul x 3

Solo only - doesn't include barrows[/hide][hide=Stats]

According to your theory, it doesn't affect bar/dagger drops. It affects stuff like half shields and key halves. So, you would probably be better off wearing an archer ring, as the rare drops aren't worth much and the increase is small. If your theory isn't right it decreases bar drops which make up the largest part of the profit, so you'd be better off bringing an archer ring. :D

ok put this to the test, Dragon drops with ROW:0 Dragon drops with zerker ring:9, from my experience row increases rune drops and decreases dragon drops. and row is a bunch of crock anyway

Dragon Drops: 5 medium helmet, 3 left shield half

Obby: Maul 1, Cape 1, Shield 1

Did you by any chance wear the zerker ring more often than the row?

ROW cannot be trusted. The difference it makes at even boss mosters is quite small and insignificant, and, like I just said, it cannot be trusted.

Aviansies don't really have any significant rare drops anyway. And I say you range slay instead of killing those stupid birds. They don't even drop any charms. I wouldn't have got 88 summoning today if I trained at those for ages.

Rare, valuable drops:

D claws x4 Whip x1 Ruined dragon armour lump x1 Armadyl hilt x2 (22/16m split) Sara sword x1 (1.1m split) Armadyl helmet x1 (1m split)

I was too excited to take screenies of any drops :P

The Greatest Tormented Demon Guide Ever

88 summoning achieved on 26/4/09.

99 ranged achieved on 9/5/09.

We need two people.

One to max out on Aviansies (meaning max kc) while wearing a ROW who will record the final loot in alchs and bars.

One to max out on Aviansies (meaning max kc) while wearing another ring such as Archers/Ring of Life/whatever who will record the final loot in alchs and bars.

Compare the two, and you should get a pretty accurate representation of what the ring of wealth does.

i go to avains atleast once a week and stay for about 2 days.

ive used the archer ring and the ring of wealth. to be honest i didnt notice any significant change, i stayed for about 2k kc with both rings and its definatly not that big of a change.
