Attack on Dutch Royal Family on National Holiday

That article pretty much sums it up. My younger brother was working the event as private security, but he was in a whole different location when the attack happened.

For those of you who don't know, Queen's Day is a national holiday in The Netherlands that basically celebrates the royal family. Usually the queen and her direct family will visit a handful of towns to 'meet with the locals', so to speak. It generally involves tours, parades, etc., and markets, carnivals and parties all over the country.

I watched it live on television. Needless to see all activities were cancelled and the rest of the day included speculation about what happened. The queen issued a statement later today, and I've never seen her so shocked.

This really ruined a day that was supposed to be a celebration.

Really awful stuff, this site has some pretty shocking pictures of the people that were injured killed. Don't know what could have posessed the bloke to do this.

I saw it on the end of the news today, im suprised it diodn't get put a the top of the news because to me this is something really big, really close to home, and really tragic. This is NEWS, not obama has spent 100 days in office lets see what hes done, or swine flu has infected another 10 people etc etc.

It was really tragic hearing the reactions of people as it occured, its lucky the driver didn;t do more damage.

Those pictures made me feel good - not because I have some sick killing fetish, but because of all the help that just regular people were giving. Half of those pictures had people giving CPR.

This sounds terrible. How many people were hurt?

catch it now so you can like it before it went so mainstream

My friend mentioned this today to me too, he said it was horrible and I agree with him.

:(

I have to agree with that though too, it was good to see ordinary citizens helping out... it's not always you'd see something like that :(
