Cptbaker08
They;re kinda equal. At my stats i can use a Whip+rune def and kill them just fine. They are weak to crush but its not as bad as waterfiends (also weak to crush) where you absolutely need a crush weapon to be able to kill effectively. OF course the crush weapon helps, but you also lose the choice of using the Rune Defender which helps. Zaaps1
The weakness isn't big enough to make a profound impact. Stick with whip. It's the same with dragons. Cptbaker08
Yes, SS is better than a whip for gargoyles. Anyone who says otherwise is wrong and inexperienced. I gotten 3 tasks of Gargoyles. 2 of which i used Whip+Def, and the other i used a SS on Crush (i was going for def the first 2 tasks and str the 3rd). I did not notice any different in the time it took to kill them. Also i have a large group of friends who also say the same thing. Gargs do have a weakness to crush, but since they have a weak defense themselvees, you can easily kill with a whip. And as Zaaps1 said dragons are weak to stab, but up to irons you can easily kill with a whip. Steels and Miths are easier to kill with a LBS. It doesn't matter, if you have high stats and the Gargs have low defense their weakness doesn't make much of a difference. Yes gargs are weak to crush, but if you're using a whip it doesn't make much of a difference. And im not the only person to have killed them. If you go to a spot of gargs you will notice that people kill gargs both with whip+def and a ss. Its up to you which to use. Same with most creatures. But the stronger creatures, like waterfiends and mithril dragons, you need to use what they are weak against or you will have a hard time killing them. A lot of people fish sharks because they think it's good money, but does that make it true? No. Keep in mind that most players absolutely suck at Slayer. Players with much higher slayer levels than you have done extensive testing, which is why we know these things. You wont notice a difference in just one slayer task. To put it bluntly, [bleep] off. Cptbaker08
Ok but SS may be better, but its not much of a differenc. I also know a big group of people, and just asked. They said ss is better, i've been told that whip+def doesnt make much of a difference. But still if u have good enough stats, and don't have 7m spare, whip+def will work just fine. Lulz at Death. Tribbleman
Considering your stats, whip+def will probably perform better. If you end up using another type of shield (no atk bonus), then the SS would do better. ilovecardj
I noticed no difference getting 99 str with ss on slayer (lots of garg tasks) and 99 def on slayer (lots of garg tasks) Basically if your training str use ss with crush, if not just use whip. If you have a dscim id not use it and use a whip. Lets_3ekout
They're just about equal - ss will have more accuracy by a very small amount while whip will have a small strength advantage (from defender). Don't go buying a SS just for garg assignments, unless of course you want to train strength  Choose your weapon based on what stats you want to train.
