May 23, 200917 yr EDIT: Fastortise, have you heard of the pentadactyl limb ? Sure it may be more practical and logical to classify organisms based on their DNA relatedness, but that is not visible to the eye. Taxonomists arrange it that way because you can see a logical and easy to understand progression of, well "the body". Sure I've heard of an arm before  But seriously, even though it's a pretty accurate way for detecting common ancestry, the pentadactyl limb only applies to tetrapods. I'm talking about a universal tree for ALL species, and since the only thing that unifies all living organisms is DNA, I want to see a DNA-tree. Are you familiar with 16S/18S ribosomal RNA trees? Carl Woese basically showed that Archaea exist based on work with RNA trees.

May 23, 200917 yr As much as atheists complain about some people trying to force religion down their throats, the same can be said every time they make a discovery. One of them just has to be right. Let's see how much of an impact this has on the world. It's funny the article uses the holy grail and the holy ark to make an image of how "important" this discovery is. [hide=][/hide] Just because I don't agree with some of the ideas behind the discovery doesn't make it less interesting While I don't believe it has anything to do with evolutions, it is still an interesting find of an extinct animal....

Since the bible is just propaganda for god it can't really be claimed as proof. Besides that even if you do believe in god it's just kinda ignorant to claim evolution isn't real. Ponies!

May 24, 200917 yr I go off the basis that almost everyone has a story about a flood. It has never happened in the history of man that everyone has made up the same story. The time frame was just for dramatic effect I think. Ponies!

The time frame was just for dramatic effect I think. Actually, there is an interesting scientific theory about a flood that covered all or nearly all of the human living area some time in ancient history. I forget specifics but something about a land slide releasing a giant lake into the valley were most humans lived. May 24, 200917 yr God doesn't test. The devil does. Assuming you are speaking from the bible, I disagree. I recall the story of Job that was tested by god and the devil together to see if he was a true believer. Took his property, killed family, gave him leprosy and so on to see if he would turn against god. Orthodoxy is unconciousnessthe only ones who should kill are those who are prepared to be killed.

Took his property, killed family, gave him leprosy and so on to see if he would turn against god. That was Job.

Thanks, post fixed On topic, its rather interesting to see this but I wonder how signifigant the find is. We have seen plenty of inbetweens between monkeys and people, the main thing is that is this close enough to the middle to be shocking. Although the slow construction of a timeline is very useful, people are drawn to sensationalism so a good missing link is needed in a way to help win the debate.
