Slayer, why you should train it, and a guide on what to do.

Featured Replies

Contents~

1. Slayer, the reasons for lack of training and the pros/cons of it.

2. The masters, which ones you should use and also why you should.

3. Misunderstood monsters, why should you slay them?

4. SLAYING THE MISUNDERSTOOD MONSTERS EASILY!( Provided you have the necessary combat level)

5. Prayer Flashing.(Really helps, and it IS legal)

Why Slayer is Underrated.

Well, from common sense, or if you read another guide, you raise slayer levels by killing monsters from slayer monsters. I have been slaying for the past 1-2 years, and got 85 slayer.( It doesn't take this long though.)

People think slaying is boring, but most of the people who think so have a slayer level of 1-40.

The reasons:( For some people not training slayer)

Slayer gives no money(Not for now anyways)

Slayer gives horrible experience, and you always have to run back to a master

Theres bad drops from the monsters, and you need to go everywhere

You must kill monsters that you don't like.

Slayer is boring.

There aren't bonuses slaying monsters.

Heres the positives:

You get a BLACK MASK, which raises 15% of your attack!

You can get a Slayer Helmet(After Smoking Kills) which has the same stats as a rune full, and also looks beast.

Slayer gives a pretty decent amount of money per task( Starting 60 slayer) Around 200k a task( If you get a good one)

The 15% bonus from a black mask can boost your exp per hour!( For people who have one)

Slayer is the best choice for people who want to kill a variety of things, not camp at bandits for the rest of 99 Stats, you could gain massive amounts of money if you got it V.I.A. Slayer!

You can cancel a task, even cancel it permanetly!(After smoking kills) As long as you finish enough tasks.

You can get tons of charms!

You can use a mask in soul wars to kill your task and get bonus exp!

The Slayer Masters( Allmighty!)

From my experience, the best masters are Sumona and Durandel( Of course)

Turandel: Everyones starter, his tasks are so easy. You can't kill chickens?

Mazchna: I really don't think anyone goes to him, as vannaka is closer to civilization and more people can access him easier.

Vannaka: Green dragons, don't you love him? I recommend doing this guy and Chandler unti lyou can get to Sumona

Chandler: Ahhh, the assigner or Blue dragons, she's pretty cool, it's common too!.

The bad part is Zyrogmites... well they can be your preview of Gargoyles( Which is ALOT better)

Sumona: assigns greater demons and Abberant Spectres < money maker!

Though kalaphites are pretty common, they're easy but boring.

Durandel: The Master, he assigns a few of the best tasks! Some are Skeletal Wyverns, Iron dragons, Gaygoyles, Abbysal Demons, Spirit Mages, Dark Beasts, Abberant Spectres, and more!

The bad thing about him is he assigns warped terrorbirds, and hellhounds.<(brrrr)

P.S. I will explain some ways to slay some monsters you think thats bad.

But if you want easy money/tasks, go to Chandler, as she assigns Blue dragons pretty commonly.

Here's a table of what each master assigns:(Note, this is taken directly from Tip.it)

The MOST misunderstood monsters, why people don't kill them and why you should.

To start things off, heres the monster everyone hates( Well not all)

Skeletal Wyverns.( I think you're about 100+ combat if you have 72 slayer.)

These pesky dragon-like things breath ice, yes ice.

For some reason they aren't considered dragons, yet the dragonfire shield protects against it's icy blast( Maybe because it absorbs breath?)

Well, anyways, back to the fact.

They drop the allmighty VISAGE!( Even I got one) Also drops runite bolts, granite legs, and adamant bolts/pure essence + ALOT OF CRIMISON CHARMS =D

Skeletal Wyverns are weak to melee, it's like killing a fire giant that breathes ice breath.

I don't know why people range them when you can melee, seriously. Range barely hits and you waste money, and it's SO SO SLOW =(

The thing people misunderstand is that they think they can kill you easily, and you lose money when you kill them.

WRONG.

When people recommend you to kill wyverns, they always tell you- OMG, BRING PRAYER POTS OR THEY DEAL LIK 30 DMG!

No.

Their max with range and melee is 15, and it barely hits. The breath hits alot more.

If you are 100 combat or more, then please continue. If you're not for some reason, then uhm... cancel the task? Or if you have 99 range, go range them. Though it's horribly slow, and thats why people hate them.

Heres what you should wear:(Notice, any barrow melee armour would be fine, I'm using torags because it's the best.)

Head: Slayer Helm/Black mask> Torags Helm> Helm Of Neizorit

Top: Bandos ChestPlate> Torags Plate > Fighter Torso( I SERIOUSLY Don't recommend this)

Bottom: Bandos Tassets> Torags Legs> Dragon Platelegs> Rune legs....?

Ring: Beserker Ring> Warrior Ring> Ring of wealth<<<< Doesn't affect visage drop.

Weapon: Abbysal Whip<<< Anything below won't be ask good, but Dragon scimitar would be okay.

Shield: Dragonfire Shield> Mind Shield> Elemental Shield

Necklace: Amulet of Fury> Amulet of Glory> Amulet of Strength

Boots: Dragon boots/Bandos Boots<< your choice, def or strength.> Rune boots> Climbing boots

Gloves: Barrow Gloves(RFD)> Rune/Dragon glaunets> Combat Bracelet

The equips in the first part are what I mostly recommend, as it gives the highest defence avaiable, but most costly.

Torags is very ideal, as it protects against range and melee very well. No, ice breath ISN'T a magic attack.

Oh right, Bunyip/terrorbird really helps here, as getting here quicker is good. You can go from V.I.A. Fairy ring or Glory teleport to Draynor and run back.

Inventory:

If you WANT TO PRAY, go for it, but I wouldn't.

2 prayer potions* optional

Supet set* optional, though it will REALLY speed things up

Food( Obviously)

Dds/Dragon mace<<< Skeletal wvyerns are very weak to these two. =)

If you have more questions, post and I will tell you more.

Black Demons.

Yes yes I know, they barely drop things and they take long to kill.

Well, they have low defence, and if you kill them at Chaos Tunnels, they actually drop a very nice amount of charms!

There are two methods to kill them:

Tanking: I do NOT recommend tanking, as even with 99 defence they still hit you.

Praying: I recommend this, as you can get more kills and you don't have to run back to the bank and restock on food.

Heres the setup for Praying:

Head: Slayer Helm/Black mask>Helm Of Neizorit

Top: Prosetyle Plate> Monk Robes

Bottom: Prosetyle Legs/skirt> Monk Robes

Ring: Beserker Ring> Warrior Ring> Ring of wealth

Weapon: Godsword< very good against these!> Whip> Dragon scimitar> D mace....?

Shield: Dragonfire Shield> Unholy book> Rune Defender( Unholy book gives +5 prayer bonus, and a not that bad of attack bonus. Rune defender gives attack, but you waste more points)

Necklace: Amulet of Fury> Amulet of Glory> Any kind of Stole

Boots: Dragon boots/Bandos Boots > Rune boots> Climbing boots

Gloves: Barrow Gloves(RFD)> Rune/Dragon glaunets> Combat Bracelet

Now the demons, I train on them in two locations:

Chaos tunnels

Edgeville Dungeon.

I perfer Chaos tunnels because of the better drop rate of charms, though Edgeville Dungeon is alot more convient.

Inventory:

4-10 prayer potions(If you know how to prayer flash, just bring one.)

Food*in case you miss.

If you have anymore questions, ask away.

Waterfiends-

Oh boy, these were on my cancel list until I noticed their full potential.

They drop crimison charms almost every time you kill one, and also water orbs+ seaweed and more goodies!

The thing is staying there.... long enough.

The minmum stats I recommend for you to stay there long enough and not run back and forth to restock on food is:

80+ Attack

80+ Strength

80+ Defence

80-90 Magic( It will REALLY help deflecting their magic attacks/range)

At LEAST 60 Prayer.

Access to Bunyip or Unicorn( Bunyip works better, you can eat the lobbies raw)

Now for the weapons, there is a big variety, which I will list here:

Head: Slayer Helm/Black mask> Void Melee Helm> Helm Of Neizorit

Top: Karils leathertop> Black d hide> Void top

Bottom: Karils Skirt> Black d legs> Void bottom

Ring: Beserker Ring> Warrior Ring> Ring of wealth

Weapon: Here it comes:

#1 Saradomin Godsword.

It offers the best smash bonus, and it's special is very useful for staying there a long time also!

#2 Zamorakian Spear.

It can train smash, it's fast, and accurate.

#2 Saradomin Sword.

Now, this can be #1 also, but it depends on the stats of the person.

This sword is same speed as zamorakian spear, but less crush bonus and can train strength.

#3. Verac's Flail( If you're training strength) Torag Hammers, and Dharoks Greataxe.

If you can't afford the two above, these 3 can make good replacements. They can train attack also.( Not greataxe)

#4. Dragon mace

People underestimate it. It's special is pretty good against waterfiends.(It's CRUSH =O)

#5. Barrelchest anchor.

Seriously, don't use this. Go borrow a saradomin sword, saves more time, I'd rather alch it and use the money to borrow the sword.

Necklace: Amulet of Fury> Amulet of Glory> Amulet of Strength

Boots: Dragon boots/Bandos Boots > Rune boots> Climbing boots

Gloves: Barrow Gloves(RFD)> Rune/Dragon glaunets> Combat Bracelet

Inventory:This varies depending on what you have.

68 Summoning:

2 bunyip pouches

Summoning potion

Food( Pineapple pizza's ftw)

Super set* optional.

2-3 prayer potions.

88 Summoning:

2 Unicorn pouches

300+ Cure scrolls

Food needed for backup heal( Maybe 4-6 pizza's)

Super set* optional

2-4 prayer potions.

just food:

2 Prayer potions

Super set* optional

Full inv of food

Really, you will get to like waterfiends, if you train summoning, these are probably your best task( Though if you get abbysal demon. dust devil, or skeletal wyvern task, they're good too)

There are more monsters, tell me and I'll post a guide. As some monsters are easy for me, I may not know, but if you have trouble with it, just tell me.

Prayer Flasing

This is something that is debated alot. Prayer Flashing is clicking your prayer, activiating it when a monster attacks you, then turn it off when it's done.

This is PERFECTLY LEGAL, if you think about it, it's not a glitch, nothing. You're just turning on your prayer when you need to.

Now, the tempo(Time) for each monster is different. But if you kill the monster enough, you can get the tempo of it's attacks, and use prayer flashing.

For me, 64 prayer can last me about 140 fire giants, then I use food.

If someone calls you noob or a hacker/glitcher for using it, then they're not smart.

Thanks for reading this guide, and if you have anything you want to know, just post and let me know!

It's been a pleasure writing this, and I will update it often( Even if noone posts anything, it'll be nice if you post something to let me know)

Just thought I'd put my 2 cents in this topic:

"Vannaka: Green dragons, don't you love him? I recommend doing this guy and Chandler unti lyou can get to Sumona

Chandler: Ahhh, the assigner or Blue dragons, she's pretty cool, it's common too!."

She's called Chaeldar, and not Chandler ;)... maybe you're thinking of Chandler from F.R.I.E.N.D.S? :P

cheap_labour.png

Woohoo........

You can use a mask in soul wars to kill your task and get bonus exp!

What did you mean by this?

just one thing, hellhounds are nice to train since they drop clues pretty fast.

Waterfiends-

Now for the weapons, there is a big variety, which I will list here:

Head: Slayer Helm/Black mask> Helm of Neitiznot> Dwarven Helm> Berserker Helm> Void Melee Helm

The Saradomin Godsword, as well as any other godsword, is far too slow to be efficient at waterfiends. The specs are extremely helpful, but by no means is this a good main weapon.

#2 Zamorakian Spear.

It can train smash, it's fast, and accurate.

Pretty much hit the nail on the head there. Only downfall to this weapon is its "crush" attack type trains controlled, which I, and many others, dislike.

#2 Saradomin Sword.

Now, this can be #1 also, but it depends on the stats of the person.

This sword is same speed as zamorakian spear, but less crush bonus and can train strength.

The only use for this weapon is if you want to purely train strength, which many people want to do.

#3. Verac's Flail( If you're training strength) Torag Hammers, and Dharoks Greataxe.

If you can't afford the two above, these 3 can make good replacements. They can train attack also.( Not greataxe)

The hammers are my favorite weapon for waterfiends, as they can train defence, and have rather high accuracy and strength.

#4. Dragon mace

People underestimate it. It's special is pretty good against waterfiends.(It's CRUSH =O)

Again, hit the nail on the head. Just for emphasis, DO NOT USE THIS FOR A MAIN WEAPON.

#5. Barrelchest anchor.

Seriously, don't use this. Go borrow a saradomin sword, saves more time, I'd rather alch it and use the money to borrow the sword.

This is a terribly outdated weapon. Take the money you would spend/recieve for this and buy a set of torag's hammers and some prayer potions.

Also, I would like to add the Obsidian Mace (TzHaar-Ket-em) to the list of weapons. With the defender, it has 80 crush bonus, and 61 strength bonus

Necklace: Amulet of Fury> Amulet of Glory> Amulet of Strength

Boots: Dragon boots/Bandos Boots > Rune boots> Climbing boots

Gloves: Barrow Gloves(RFD)> Rune/Dragon glaunets> Combat Bracelet (Since you put Void in the other parts of the armour list, you might want to add the gloves here)

Note on Void~ As Waterfiends use both Mage and Ranged attacks, Void would be extremely impractical, as it's defensive stats are terrible.

Inventory:This varies depending on what you have.

68 Summoning:

2 bunyip pouches

Summoning potion

Food( Pineapple pizza's ftw)

Super set* optional.

10-15 prayer potions.

The only reason the Bunyip is so good here is because of its Swallow Whole scrolls.

This allows you to eat raw fish, i.e. the raw lobsters and sharks waterfiends drop.

I Bring 100+ per run, though I only use a couple dozen.

88 Summoning:

2 Unicorn pouches

300+ Cure scrolls

Food needed for backup heal( Maybe 4-6 pizza's)

Super set* optional

10-15 prayer potions.

just food:

2 Prayer potions (That wouldn't really make it food only, now would it?)

Super set* optional

Full inv of food

Far too inneficient to be applicable.:

Turandel is Turael, Durandel is Duradel. And apparently Mazchna is a girl  .

The Black Mask/Slayer Helm gives 15% to attack and Strength, not just attack.

People range Wyverns because there is a safe spot so you take no damage from them at all. But it is better to melee and get the task over with.

Black Demons anywhere else have pretty much the same crimson drop rate as the ones in the CT. You can also cannon them in Taverly Dungeon to make the task go by much faster. But only if you got the GP to afford it.

Whip/Ancient Staff+Rune Defender is good if you can't get the a GS/SS/ZS. I never tried using the ancient staff, but with a whip i got the task done.

Don't ever use bandos boots, they are over priced crap. The small prayer boost does nothing really. Just stick with the cheaper, and better dragon boots for all tasks.

Just a few pointers, mainly style related.

From my experience, the best masters are Sumona and Durandel( Of course) <>

The MOST misunderstood monsters, why people don't kill them and why you should.

To start things off, heres the monster everyone hates( Well not all)

Skeletal Wyverns.( I think you're about 100+ combat if you have 72 slayer.)

These pesky dragon-like things breath ice, yes ice.

For some reason they aren't considered dragons, yet the dragonfire shield protects against it's icy blast( Maybe because it absorbs breath?)

Well, anyways, back to the fact.

They drop the allmighty VISAGE!( Even I got one) Also drops runite bolts, granite legs, and adamant bolts/pure essence + A <>LOT OF CRIMISON CHARMS =.

Heres what you should wear:(Notice, any barrow melee armour would be fine, I'm using torags because it's the best.)

Head: Slayer Helm/Black mask> Torags Helm> Helm Of Neizorit <>

Top: Bandos ChestPlate> Torags Plate > Fighter Torso( I SERIOUSLY Don't recommend this) <>

<>> Fairy ring or Glory teleport to Draynor and run back.

Dragon drops: Half shield(cs), med helm(cs) Chainbody (cs) (I do a lot of monster hunting with my clan!

Barrows: Guthan's plateboy [1]

GWD: None yet, only done a few trips

Others: I'd love to be able to let you know.
