Lenin64
Bought this a few days ago, but I'm having a problem. I'm doing the Thieves Guild initiation, stealing the diary. The problem is, I didn't get there first, but I've read that the chick that steals it will gloat and then it'll be in a chest in her house or I can pickpocket her. But she didn't gloat or anything, and when I talk to her she just says "I'll get there first!" and if I try to pickpocket her, she has the diary. I can't successfully do it, though. Should I just raise my sneak skill more? Or, where does she float around during the day so I can try it then? Command the Murderous Chalices! Bouwzie
I still cant make oblivion run on my computer. I have no idea what to do. I can install in correctly, but it will not rune the game. It says something like "Windows has found a problem, and need to close this program" If someone can help me, please do. I really want this to work. Problem Oblivion crashes on startup, I don't even get to the main menu. Cause Other programs disrupting disk operation, or you have old save games and settings in the (My Documents/My Games/Oblivion). Solution Disable them. Most likely you'll have to switch off your antivirus (if it scans all files you access), Google Desktop (same), possibly any P2P apps running in the background (they are rather disk-intense and memory-heavy) and anything that could pop up a message from system tray during the game (email notifiers, instant messengers, automatic updaters). This is the recommended minimum, but for optimal performance and stability turn off everything that is not essential to the system operation, freeing up resources for the game. You can safely switch this all back on after you finished playing. Note the firewall apps shouldn't affect the game stability (theoretically...) so feel free to leave them on, or if you feel unsafe, disable the network connection together with the firewall for time of playing. Second Solution Move all files in (My Documents/My Games/Oblivion) to a different location. Start the game and see if it works. If it does then you may copy back the "Save" folder back in. Cause 2 Mods selected without having the correct master files Solution Check through all mods and ensure they have the required master files present and clicked on. Cause 3 DirectX is missing newer d3dx9 revision files. Solution Download and install the newest DirectX End-User Runtime. Perhaps you should try that? Kiriyama
Yeah, but Lenin pretty much said he did what I said. Which involved her being at home and asleep. Meaning it will be in the house if it is the night when it was stolen. Denizen of Darkness| PSN= sworddude198
Lenin64
It wasn't the night it was stolen, I did check her house when she left, and it wasn't in there. Anywhere. The game probably messed up, isn't she supposed to gloat that she got it forst when she gets it? She never did that. It doesn't matter now though, I got it, finished the quest, all is good. rushrock
Coming back to this game feels so good. I started fresh, as my first character wasn't working out at all. I have another Nord character: Attributes: Strength and Endurance Sign: The Warrior Major Skills (Custom class, "Fighter"): Armorer Athletics Blade Block Heavy Armor Marksman Restoration I'm glad I started over. It's going to be a much better run, and I'm going to enjoy the game a lot more now.
Guthorm
Hey, I am sorry for bumping a 4 month topic, but I have a problem right now. I have gotten oblivion about 2 months ago because of a sale of something on D2D. Anyway I have a hobby of doing research on games that I play, so naturally I did some basic studies and then I found about OBSE. It seems many of the major mods require this add-on, the only problem is that OBSE does not support the D2D version. I am just wondering right now that should I buy the game on steam just for OBSE? 35 bucks is not that much to me but it seems stupid in my head to pay that much just for mods, any opinions? PS: Again sorry for bumping up old topics, but I did not think it was right to create a topic just for asking the question. [Guild Wars 2-In game screenshot, the MMORPG you are waiting for. indy500fan
Well, mods make the game much much better. The Oblivion script extender only is needed for very advanced things though, I never used it.
TheValeyard
In the next ES I really hope Bethesda make it so that fighting from horseback and horses in general are a major part of the game. Having to get off my horse to kill a wolf is [bleep]ing annoying.
Jaziek
there is a mod for horseback fighting. In the next ES I really hope they make it so that you cant mod the game at all.
TheValeyard
there is a mod for horseback fighting. I envy you that. I have the Boots of the Crusader, which stop attacks from wild animals, but my horse still gets attacked. #-o
____
Mega-bump... I did something I haven't done in a long-[wagon] time.. since my very first character actually. And went with marksman as my primary killing method. I really need to get the main quest line under way tho so I can get Hatreds Soul. 24 damage for a meager 12 weight... excellent. I have also employed efficient leveling for this character also. I wasn't using +5+5+1 since the start.. since I wanted to max my Endurance, Strength and Agility asap. So far so good. indy500fan
I always like to have my stats at 100 eventually so 5/5/1 is usually what I do, but 5/5/5 can make the beginning easier. Archer is actually pretty fun, I usually like to do that because it is easier to stealth kill people that way.
____
The only thing I can't max legitimately is Luck. I had to be doing 5/5/1 from the start to pull that off since I only started with 50 Luck.. no drama tho. I rarely level Luck past the initial value and the loot is just fine at 20+ :)
