September 6, 200520 yr i already know who i'm going to ask but...what should i include in them specifically.. GPA, activities, class rank, SAT, acheivments what else should i put in this letter? any1 in college or has graduated from college will be extremely helpful
September 6, 200520 yr Attendance records? You could also say put something like (if you were, that is) "I have been in a basketball team, I am a good team worker" I don't know.. I'm 14. :P //Mitch New sig to come!
September 6, 200520 yr I really don't know what you're asking here. It seems like you're asking us what specifically you should put in a letter of recommendation? What? You can't write your own letter! Whoever you ask to write it will do a good job I'm sure, and its not/should not be up to you to decide what they put in that letter. But anyhow, a letter of recommendation usually provides the recipient with information about the person applying, such as personality, strengths, etc.
September 6, 200520 yr Is it for a college application? I've seen a few letters of recommendation that my teacher wrote (I was the TA), and none of them mention any specifics. Tell them to write about YOU. It's a recommendation letter; you don't have to tell them what to write about. If they know you well enough, they should be able to write that letter in no time. ==================================Retired tip.it moderator.Teaching and inspiring.
September 6, 200520 yr my math teacher taught me for 2 yrs, and gave me a sheet to fill out that included what jobs i did, what i did best in her class, clubs, activites, basically anythign about you. But that was special because shes going to have a lot of people asking her for recommendations. I haven't asked a second teacher yet. All you have to do is ask someone who you think knows you and you did semi good in the class.
September 6, 200520 yr I recommend asking your English teacher(s) because they write the best ones, and know what to write without you having to tell them. However, I do recommend that you complile a resume which includes: -Extracurricular activities -Accelerated/AP/Honors classes attended throughout high school. -Awards/Honors/Achievements -Anything else you see fit. Good luck. By The_Jeppoz

September 7, 200520 yr ty weez 8) [sarcasm]yeah...uh, no problem[/sarcasm] :? its a forum, hes a mod, his input means more than yours. im joking btw, but im sure you got that. my math teacher taught me for 2 yrs, and gave me a sheet to fill out that included what jobs i did, what i did best in her class, clubs, activites, basically anythign about you. But that was special because shes going to have a lot of people asking her for recommendations. yeah, almost exact same situation here. my math teacher pretty much had everyone in his math classes ask him to write the letter. he pretty much used a generic one and changed things around. i never had any recommendation letters made out at all, i hope that wasnt something i missed :? i sent in my application about 3 weeks ago, i hope i get my letter soon.
September 7, 200520 yr My school is small, there are probably only 2 teachers who haven't taught me :P and almost all of the ones that have taught me know me well enough to just write it :P I just posted something! ^_^ to the terrorist...er... kirbybeam.
September 7, 200520 yr It's helpful to remind them of anecdotes that showcase who you are - memorable things that make YOU special. Admission committees will see your GPA and SAT scores regardless, so it's silly for the teacher to say "This student did well in my class." Make sure they know YOU personally, and try to have them highlight that :D Everybody hug and spread the love :D
September 11, 200520 yr I don't have the time to read what people have posted so far because I need to go to bed but it's always good to include your extracurricular activities because they look at those kind of things to see what type of person you and it tell them things about you that they need to know to gauge how good of a student you'll be. Also you should include any volunteering you may have done, if any, because it speaks well for your character. Noting any recreational reading you do or a second language or anything like that, that shows that you do a lot of personal study and enjoy furthering your education and increasing your knowledge will help.
