Problems Loading Runescape

Recommended Posts

I have recently been having troubles loading RS, and I have followed ever step on RS.com to help fix the problem, but it has been to no avail.

What happens, is that, when I click to play, it loads the advertisement, but it won't load anything after that. The screen just goes black.

I have tried numerous things to fix this, such as:

1. Restating my computer

2. Updating Java

3. Updating Firefox

4. Uninstalling, and reinstalling Java

5. Using Opera

Now I am no computer genius, so I have no idea what the problem is, but if anyone here can help determine it, I would be greatly obliged.

The reason I posted this on Tip.it, rather than the RS Forums is because I am a nonmember.

Thanks in advance for the help!

P.S. If this is in the wrong section, I deeply apologize, I just recently joined the forums here, and I don't quite know may way around just yet.

I had a similar problem before, turned out I had adware on my computer that made it slow.

I would do the following:

1. Scan your computer and remove the adware/virusses.

2. Install the latest Java again.

3. Close all other activities and try loading.

I would like to know if you're using Vista x64.

If so, I think my solution could work:

First go to the Java contol panel, and in the advanced tab, make sure the familly of browser that you use is enabled, and then, second step, in the plugin part, uncheck the box about new generation plugin.

Well I scanned my computer, and got rid of several hundred "problems", but RS still won't work. I deleted my cache, and nothing has changed. I do not have Vista 64, I have XP, so that isn't the problem.

What bit is your XP?

Do you have more than one computer?

If so, try if it loads on that one.. and compare the 2?

Sorry that I haven't replied or anything recently, but I have been toying around and found out my CPU usage was at 100%, I terminated some unneeded processes, and RS is running fine. Thanks for all the help, even though your advice wasn't the problem, my PC is running more smoothly because of it. Thanks Tip.It!

get 1gb ram upgrade...its like 50 bucks for memorex

I'm sorry abut where in here does it state that he doesn't have 1GB memory? Also he is having high CPU usages and memory isn't going to help a whole lot with that. Not to say that if he doesn't have 1GB memory he shouldn't get it. What would probably help the problem is a nice reinstall of the of OS.
