Barrows: getting rewards

SportsGuy

Recommended Posts

I've been making Barrows runs and wondering if I'm maximizing my rewards correctly.

First of all, I'm killing all the brothers each time I open a chest, but I'm also killing some of the creatures below to make sure my kill count ('KC') is in the double digits.

[hide=Barrows Trips]1 - (~110) Chaos runes, (~260) Mind runes, 36 Boltracks, (~1000) coins (KC: 10) Dharok

2 - (~550) Mind runes, (~1000) coins (KC: 10) Torag

3 - 562 Mind runes, 153 Death runes, 41 Blood runes, 1163 Coins (KC: 11) Karil

4 - 265 Mind runes, 72 Bolt racks, Tooth half of a key, 760 Coins (KC: 12) Torag

5 - 249 Chaos runes, 39 Blood runes, 1474 Coins (KC: 16) Guthan

6 - 119 Chaos runes, 600 Mind runes, 43 Blood runes, 918 Coins (KC: 13) Dharok

7 - 241 Chaos runes, 298 Mind runes, 72 Death runes, 880 Coins (KC: 17) Guthan

8 - 131 Chaos runes, 78 Death runes, 323 Mind runes, 40 Blood runes, 1134 Coins (KC: 60) Guthan

9 - 35 Bolt racks, 130 Chaos runes, 82 Blood runes, 77 Death runes, 299 Mind runes, Dharok's platelegs (KC: 50) Dharok

10 - 38 Blood runes, 259 Chaos runes, 336 Mind runes, 118 Coins (KC:35) Guthan

11 - 77 Bolt racks, 647 Mind runes, 37 Blood runes, 954 Coins(KC: 30) Ahrim

12 - 255 Mind runes, 150 Death runes, 1668 Coins (KC: 7) Karil

13 - 41 Blood runes, 331 Mind runes, 72 Death runes, Loop half of a key, 2028 Coins (KC: 30) Dharok

13 - 81 Blood runes, 74 Bolt racks, 1280 Coins (KC: 20) Dharok

14 - 128 Chaos runes, 77 Death runes, 2588 Coins (KC: 17) Torag

15 - 821 Mind runes, 1210 Coins, Dharok's platelegs (KC: 16) Guthan[/hide]

Are the rune and coin results typical? The brother I'm getting in the tunnels is after the kill count in parenthesis. My first two runs I didn't get exact results, but those are pretty good approximations (I hadn't yet decided to record my results). I'm very happy with the item rewards so far, but I know those aren't typical and a dry run could hit at any moment.

So higher kill count does matter above a certain point? It seemed like it was indicating that once you get to 9, there wasn't any point in continuing.

What's a good number to shoot for in kill count? Does what I kill matter? If it matters, should I be trying to kill a certain amount to get a certain amount of runes and coins?

BTW, I know getting items is random...I was more disappointed in the amount of stuff I was getting.

if you've only done 7 trips and think you were supposed to get an item your sadly mistaken. I've had a 50 run dry streak before.

When ever you kill something it goes into the chest. This goes for all monsters in barrows. So killing anything besides the brothers only increases rack, runes, and coins. After about 15 or so it's just a waste of time. There's a vid of a guy getting 10k kc. You should see the reward.

I think you missed the places where I mentioned I wasn't upset about not getting an item...

I think that last part settles my question. Any more than 15 is pretty much a waste of time, apparently. I am wondering why Dharok seems to be my 'favorite' tunnel brother after doing more and more runs. It seems like it's almost every third trip is a Dharok tunnel trip. Is there a way to "reset" if I don't like it? I tried world hopping, but it doesn't seem to work.

You shouldnt whine, tbh you got pretty OK rewards. Ive barrowed quite alot and i havent gotten a single barrow item from the chest and ive always kept my KC on double digits.

Nobody whined. I asked a question.

Why waste your time commenting if you have nothing to add?

That one is a rhetorical question.

its all random luck higher kill count just means u get better or more runes and gold from chest not barrow items

It sounds like that's the confirmation I was looking for...

You got good drops, actually. Just because you kill 10 abyssal demons doesn't mean you'll get a whip. If barrows gear dropped that easily then it'd be cheaper.

I'm not asking about the items. I'm asking about the overall drops. Not only that, but I'm just trying to get a definitive answer about how to maximize my chances at getting good rewards without wasting time. I know that the rewards for a 10k kill count don't get great rewards.

I'm looking for the spot on the "curve" that it starts to level out. 50? 60? 40 kills?

I think it's been established that somewhere in the 40s is really the min/max...

One time is not enough data to base an argument off of.

To op: Seems fairly normal to me. I seemed to have gotten more blood runes than you, but it could be due to other factors.

Maybe killing bloodworms gets more blood runes? I'm going to try and kill nothing but the brothers and bloodworms one time, though I'd imagine that still really wouldn't settle it. It's probably all random.

Get a Killcount in the 17-19 range.

Usually gets enough of a reward, without taking up too much time.

Thanks y'all. I think that's a decent range. I've actually noticed that rewards seem best in the teens (for me...in a limited sample, of course). Looks like you guys have been doing exactly what I've been looking to test.

okie dokie

here ya go guys

but remmeber, these are estimates ... i totally agree with the rate

108 bros, u get 1 piece of item.....

if u do it neatly, 6 bros per run......then thats 1 item / 18 runs

yes, double items are possible, and i had 1, yes there are also big droughts lol

and thats why this is a game i guess.

be patient and enjoy ROW doesnt work if no1 said it yet.

the loads of bloods and deaths add up too, just get 17KC, like i do.

True. I've never gotten a barrows armor/weapon and I've gone close to 100 trips. IMO barrows is hardly worth it anymore, back in the day any items was millions, now only a few are worth more than an average slayer monster drop.

My longest dry streak was 23 :/

I just have a little tradition, my KC has to be odd.

Wongton is better than me in anyway~~
