Hmm... a new skill for both members and F2P...

It's been known for a while that it'd be both F2P and P2P can't really say what the skill is going to be, can say that like other skills shared by P2P and F2P, P2P will have cheaper methods, faster xp rates at higher levels, and unique items higher on in the chain.

A bit disappointed in the Q&A, just as I am for most updates this year.

 

 

 

Only thing that interested me was about the newt skill, although we only know it's available for everyone.

 

Kind of morphing skill could be handy, thought of this before hunter.

 

Changing totally/partly into another creature to aid you in certain things (being more agile/bigger backpack, being a half dragon, half human, skewering someone with a godsword and unleashing a firebreath attack, such things :P).

 

If you think of it, this kind of skills are likely to be going to exist, as the "normal" skills as cooking etc already exist. Now there will possibly only be skills without any relation to our IRL world.

I always thought hunter should have a taming subsection for creatures to help you their answer to that was summoning though no idea what they have planned, should be interesting though, the skills they come out with get progressively more in depth ::'

Yes, and once all the people finally get so mad at MMG for these crappy updates, they'll nail him to a cross, and he'll finally be able to achieve his Godhood.

Now I'm not going to say the most commonly thought possibility of a new skill( ;) ), but I think there have been "archeology" skill supporters, whatever that means.

The fact of the matter is that our current player demographics are a lot older than a lot of people think, so we dont have to change the player base itself, just peoples perception of it. We have dealt with this by nuking the kiddy content, for examples, the Stronghold of Player Safety. I do love the fact that we have a game that is suitable for an incredibly broad, worldwide audience.

The stronghold is still there, but I assume they took the focus off of player safety. And hopefully got rid of some of the doors.

Yes, well I'm sure everyone is glad that they got rid of the "Dancing with Giant Teddy Bears" and "Afternoon Nap Time" quests. :thumbup:

 

 

 

-edit- Oh, well the godhood thing derives how most people playing RS believe he is a divine being sent down to run our game. Much in the same way That Jesu... I mean Obama came down from the heavens to run our government.

The doors don't ask anything anymore, and the other stronghold is also without that exam etc. You now just have to run to the chest to reap the rewards.

 

Was spending like 4 hours on my pure how I could take that exam at the Stronghold of Safety...

I am VERY curious to learn how this will play out, considering Durial321 might come back into the game or something (just an example).

In the interview with MMOHub you mentioned that you will put "magic effects" into RuneScape like particle effects and specula lighting. Can you tell us something more about that? I don't quite understand what it means for the graphics in RuneScape. And will we see this coming this year?

 

 

 

Another question about those "magic effects" is that I'd like to know when we see those fantastic looking lighting effects from the Abyssal Whip and Zanaris concept art, actually ingame?

A) Hey Jeff,

 

Yes we have done a ton of graphical upgrades to the RuneScape game engine that we are now starting to implement, these will improve many things from the ways spells look through to just making the game much more atmospheric, other improvements like speed will also come to the software 3D engine.

 

 

 

Oh joy. More changes to the magic GRAPHICS but not to the skill itself. Fantastic.

My question for you is about "Particle Physics". How are you going to implement them into the game (if you are), for better animations/graphics pertaining to lighting, magic spells, glowing effects, etc? Will we see this in an animation pack coming in the near future?

 

 

 

Also, a lot of people have been discussing day/night, and the graphics seen in Runehq's concept art by Jagex. The detailing on the house is much better than before - will we see day/night released with an upgrade to compatibility with direct x (which will allow for better graphics, without sacrificing players ability to play with these graphics), and possibly some graphic reworks to give a few more places much more life, and detail?

Yes you will start seeing more advanced particle effects as mentioned above and naturally also better animations as well.

 

You will start seeing a lot of the older graphics getting upgraded over time.

 

 

 

I don't believe we are currently looking at Day/Night effects.
