Dragon Kiteshield with stats and suggestions

I have the following suggestion to make a dragon kiteshield. Yes I know a lot of people have talked about it but hear me through.

STATS:

Attack:

-Stab +/- 0

-Slash +/- 0

-Crush +/- 0

-Magic -8

-Ranged -2

Defense:

-Stab +58

-Slash + 64

Crush +61

Magic -2

Ranged +61

Summoning +57

Other:

Strength +/- 0

Prayer +/-0

Ranged Strength +/- 0

Quest Requirement: Monkey Madness (Not only another motivator to finish that darned quest :? but a fairly hearty requirement)

Creation: Since the Dragon Sq Shield has left and right halves, hows about this one has top and bottom halves? Lv 70 smithing to put together. These halves can be found as monster drops from all slayer monsters that already drop d square halves.

I used simple math to create the stats, I simply used the ratios from the rune sq to the rune kite and applied them to the dragon sq.

LET ME KNOW WHAT YOU THINK

"In order to lead, you must learn how to carry your followers upon your shoulders"

"A man is not only defined by his abilities, but also by those of the men with which he surrounds himself"

"The meek fight for skill and fame, the strong fight for power with the skill and fame they already have"

I based my calculations of the ratios between rune and addy shields, so they should be a bit more accurate

STATS:

Attack:

-Stab +/- 0

-Slash +/- 0

-Crush +/- 0

-Magic -8

-Ranged -2

Defense:

-Stab +62

-Slash + 64

Crush +64

Magic -1

Ranged +62

Summoning +60

Other:

Strength +/- 0

Prayer +/-0

Ranged Strength +/- 0

OK some info:

Jagex already have plans to make it. They recently announced Players Gallery and in it was a Dragon kiteshield concepts.

They mentioned the kiteshield in their news text which means they are working on it and planning to make it. So from my view you should leave it to Jagex as they already have a close eye on it.

Source 1(News text):

http://news.runescape.com/newsitem.ws?id=2088

Source 2 (Dragon kiteshield concept by a player):

http://www.runescape.com/kbase/viewarti ... cle_id=959

So from here all there is left to suggest for this shield is the stats and i am pretty sure Jagex would manage that. The Dragon items (most of them) stink.

The players gallery is just that, A player submitted art gallery, not a development concept art.

@ hedgehog, I like your idea but the difference between materials changes at each interval so it is impossible to tell. I personally think my calculation is more accurate, and you obviously think yours is so I would like to agree to disagree for the time being.

That said, I would like to look into the sq to kite ratio for addy and see if they are roughly the same as the rune ratios, that would settle our disagreement. Expect a post from me soon on that end

The dragon kiteshield will be damned from the beggining.

There is already the DFS and the spirit shields, as well as the rune defender.

At best, it'd only be used for looks.

What else are dragon items used for? #-o

They were supposed to be used for combat.

But since equipment grows in power over time, and with most armours and weapons in the game being relatively easy to obtain, the older armours are left in the dust, and end up being used purely for outfits.

Why does everyone believe they're only used for looks? I wear my dragon armor because I don't want to buy barrows. There are quite a few players who prefer dragon armor.

Also, there's another similar thread talking about the need of a Dragon Kiteshield here.

Did you poll the entire Runescape population to find that out? Or are you just going off of what some people say? :|

I'm going from what I see in everyday 'scaping.

Besides, Barrows armour beats dragon in practically every way.

Oh, and don't pull the degrading argument, its like 5k per hour, max, compared to the cost of dragon platebody, you'd have to be in combat for so many hours for it to be worth the same amount.

So just by looking at their armor you can tell that they're wearing it because it looks cool and not for the combat bonuses? You must have great eyes.

Honestly, you cannot make that sort of an assumption without getting some firm evidence from a decent poll with a non-biased sample from the population. Your assumption would be similar to me saying "Over 50% of F2P'ers in Runescape wear Rune armor." It's a decent assumption, and there's a good possibility that it's true, but I have absolutely no evidence for it, so I can't say that it's a fact.

I am not pulling figures out of nowhere, I'm making an educated assumption from personal experience.

Slayer is all I do, and out of the maybe 100 people I see each day while slaying, about 4-5 are using a dragon platebody/chainbody for melee combat.

The dragon platelegs, however, are a different story since they are so cheap.

Sorry if I forgot to mention that I'm discounting the platelegs/skirt earlier.

I was kinda hoping it would bridge the gap between a 300K dragon square and a 20 million DFS...

obby shield is for the str bonus... i was thinking something with higher melee def. Spirit shield... more millions that a lot of players dont have. Rune defender isn't tradeable.

If you look at it like that I want it to be just a compromise... Personally im a little tired of the huge gaps between what is considered "low level" member gear like a granite body and "decent" gear like d chain... or "high level" armor like bandos and spirit shields. My concept was something in the middle

"In order to lead, you must learn how to carry your followers upon your shoulders"

"A man is not only defined by his abilities, but also by those of the men with which he surrounds himself"
