August 25, 200916 yr I've always thought that this three part solution would be best: 1) As another poster said earlier, make each HP level equal to more than one hitpoint. 2) Defence should work as a counter to strength. 3) Weapons need to have EFFECTS rather than UBER 1337 MAX HITS. Moar spirit shields and barrows, pls. As it stands, HP isn't totally problematic. Players have a few ways to make sure that they don't get one hit. I would still like to see these updates, however. To put it bluntly, [bleep] off.
August 25, 200916 yr I think the best way to solve this is to make defense reduce the amount of damage done, like what's been said. And then you take agility and make it so it increases the amount of 0s you recieve. That would really do it I think...it would make combat a lot more interesting. Click for mah Blog!- I'm not sure why you would though because i never update it Achieved 99 Thieving 3/10/07-992nd to it
August 25, 200916 yr Defence isn't a waste of time, but once you reach those really high levels, it becomes obsolete. It is very useful in gwd though ;) Wait until you get to my level, then you realise "Crap, this isn't working". 95 Defence + Chiv + Pot and Im still being ko'ed by players with a strength level of 80-90. :? August 26, 200916 yr Maybe they could put defense mode on certain familiars to take damage for you in multi-way wilderness. [software Engineer] - [Ability Bar Suggestion] - [Gaming Enthusiast]

August 26, 200916 yr Another alternative is create armor that has damage taken away from hit points and another stat. Example: Level 80 Full Elven 25% of damage is taken from prayer stat, 75% comes from hitpoints. Level 85 Full Drakan 15% taken from prayer, 15% taken from summoning, 10% taken from agility, 60% taken from hitpoints. In this way, you pseudo increase max hit points but only for those that are high level to wear it. Plus it doesn't take away from high hits. August 26, 200916 yr I don't think raising Hitpoints past 99 is a good idea. (Sorry if this was mentioned) Wouldn't this mess up the combat system? Like you would get more levels, etc. :S Homer: So if we don't all vote the same way we'll be "deadlocked" and be "sequestered" at the Springfield Hotel, where we'll get Free Room, Free TV, Free Food, Free HBO. August 26, 200916 yr I would like to see Runescape take on a combat system similar to guild wars. It could work if done correctly, in my opinion. 2,274th person to 99 mining

In this way, you pseudo increase max hit points but only for those that are high level to wear it. Plus it doesn't take away from high hits. While this is a good idea, there are some issues with it. The problem these days is, armor which has the effects to do this are typically very rare as a monster drop. The average joe cannot afford a Sigiled Spirit Sheild. Whatever happens it has to be accessable to a large percent of the players. Otherwise it will just be another spirit shield with great effects, but hardly anyone can use it. But if it is too accessable/poweful, everyone will only use that armor, and nothing else. There has to be some sort of drawback for using it. Just an Example: Elven armor uses 70% hitpoints and 10% of your attack, str, and magic levels for damage absorption. The drawback would be, you could not hybrid in it. If it is easily accessable to everyone, you then have to make sure it dosent overpower "rare" items such as the Spirit sheilds. Shields would have to "stack" ontop the already given bonuses. In which case, you would have to make sure the "stack" wasnt to powerful. It is something that should be introduced, but if it wasnt intorduced correctly and balanced, it will just be another useful item for rich players, and everyone gets left in the dust.

August 26, 200916 yr Its possible to go above 99 at this moment in time. Ogg pools, sara brews and titans to name the ones I know of. August 26, 200916 yr Author Agility->Dodge. Defence->Reduce damage. There, fixed. This ^ Have you even thought off pures that already have agility levels? There are almost as many pures as there are mains, there even be more. Many of them have agility levels, and this would raise there combat level. So no this would not be a good idea, unless you made a new skill: Defence->Reduce damage. Guard->Dodge/block.
