tigershelby2
as you can see...my melee and combat stats are all about the same. i love range, but i find melee more useful most of the time. i will probably be doing alot of slayer after i decide so thats a big factor. my question is this: should i mainly focus on range, or melee? if i focus on range i will probably sell off most of my melee gear (besides whip and slayer helm) and then i would easily be able to afford a cannon and all the cannonballs i would need. so...which one? or just stay how i am and just kinda do what i want on each task? skylor12344
i love range myself (even though mine is only 79) but i do find that melee comes in handy for those tasks that you cant range(because there is no safespots) or cannon(those that are not in multi-combat areas) but this is just my personal opinion. onedaysoon
For slayer training Melee is almost always fast exp, however if you enjoy range i'd stick with that. Getting 99 Range through not chinning and just for your love of the skill is great, keep that in mind ;)
J35u5_M4
Slay with melee using the black mask, faster. But train ranged making money at aviansies, monster hunting or just burning some on chins
RayOxide
Range is pro. And that slayer update is seeming alot like a range helm for slayer. I dont need a siggy no moar.

RayOxide
Melee is faster. But at your level you can easily tank-range alot of certain monsters. With a set up like; Torags Helm Black Dhide body Torags Legs Dragon boots Dragonstone (i) (its cheaper, if you have others use em / whatever ring you want) Fury Obby (or higher) cape if you dont mind continuously picking up bolts Rune cbow Mith bolts And a rune kiteshield/dragon sq/granite shield/dfs if you have it. I dont need a siggy no moar.

Jaffy1
I wouldn't sell your melee armour just to level ranged.. Can't you do both? :D Tip.It Website Crew Leader[hide=Quotes]I love it how Jafje comes outa nowhere and answers my questionsHehe now we know what real life does...drugs, drugs, more drugs. ultimatballr
In your situation, I did both. I did melee for 80% of my tasks but the final 20% of the tasks got ranged. I would range things like Hellhounds, Greater and Black Demons, Blue and Mith Dragons (Iron too if I have them unblocked) any other task is specifically melee. Ranged slayer is not actually THAT bad but if you combine some tasks with range and the others with melee. And I NEVER use a cannon (I will when I start slaying for 99) but when I am doing it casually I just do what I stated above. Hopefully it was a helpful answer. Apparently, my signature was to big. ultimatballr
I am pretty sure the tasks you can't range with a safe spot are obv the magers (like Abby Specs) and things that you don't have the level for (Spirit Mages, Dark Beasts, Abby Demons etc.) everything else I don't think you will have a problem with range wise. The only tasks I see that are not rangeable are like stated above, Abby Demons, Dark Beasts, Spirit Mages (I have no experience with these so I really do not know) Also I have no experience with Goraks, so I do not know about them either. Everything else is rangeable whether you safespot or tank/pray. A bunch of tasks are also cannonable if you wanted to cannon them. (Such as, Kalphites, Black Demons, Abby Specs, Bloodvelds and Scarabites to name a few) Apparently, my signature was to big.

Let me copy and paste a lists of Duradel's tasks, assuming that's who you are using. If no please say otherwise. yes im using duradel. and i know which tasks i cant safespot, and i was just planning on tanking those, or, if i could break even, pray them Barrows: Verac- Helm, Brassard x 2,Torag- Body, HammersKaril- CrossbowGuthan- BodyAhrim- Hood, Staff
RayOxide
Mith bolts are buyable. Broads arent. It's quicker to tank with range and def pots than it is to safe-range. Safe range is usally only 1-3 monsters attackable. Praying range is quite easy too, Monk robes ;) Errrr, you wont really need to sell your whip or melee stuff. You should have barrows legs in the first palce, and shouldnt buy anything unless you have like 1m+ leftover in the bank. Melee tasks until you can buy tank gear? I dont need a siggy no moar. Inuashakent
As been said, Melee is far superior for general purposes. Ranging definitely has it's uses, no denying that (Aviancies, GWD and other bosses, etc) but Meleeing can do just as much and is faster xp for slayer and, like I said, general purposes. Saying that, I would use Range when possible, but don't force range on tasks that would be done way faster using Melee. (Tanking with Range would be stupid. Just range safespottable tasks and Melee what you can't.) [Summoning guide (AOW)] [Slayer guide] [Melee & Brawl player]
