All i can think off is that your batteries arent full, you shouldnt charge them for anything less than 100 percent before using them again

Or buy an adapter that way youll never have to worry about batteries again

Same problem happened to me, I realize sometimes it's because of the battery power low. But sometimes it just turns off randomly. Who knows, however, everytime i've had this happen, I changed batteries, and it always helped.

Late post is late, but I have this problem too. I highly suspect it's caused because of the controller getting repeatedly dropped on the floor and thus getting dealt damage on the battery pack. No idea how to fix it 'cept by buying a new controller. :-?

This has happened to my friend while we were playing co-op on a bunch of games. My controller has that battery pack that connects straight to the 360, and his is wireless. He sits about 5 feet from the 360, and still it randomly turns off mid-game. The battery life is always fine, and usually we just switch to another controller, but eventually it happens to that one too. We don't throw controllers or anything (we're generally careful with them). WTF is happening

Ah.. I experienced this problem for myself and after a good few days of testing various things within my xbox, found it was actually the RF Modulator. (Small board with your ring of light). This is known to play up and send signals to the controller to turn them off, open the guide button or even send you to dashboard in the middle of a game. If the problem persists my advice is to look for a RF Modulator, which will thus mean taking your xbox apart, and replacing which will void your warrenty. You can actually get pre-modded RF Modulators with any colour LED'S for the ring of light aswell which is always fun...

On the other hand if you still have Microsoft's useless warrenty send it back for repair and if they try to charge you, threaten them with the Sales of Goods Act, and threaten to take them to court. Lot's of people got free repair's this way.
