Tekken Series + Tekken 6

I remember when i was younger playing tekken 2 and 3 on my playstation 1, and it was one of the best games out at the time. It took me quite a few years before i then bought my next tekken game, which was tekken 5 for the PS2, and i was addicted to that as much as the PS1 games.

 

Tekken has been going well since 1994 where it started out in the arcades, applying many concepts used in virtua fighter which was released 2 years before, and since then it has, in my opinion, triumphed over virtua fighter and any other fighting game on the market. It quickly progressed onto consoles, such as the PS1 and since then has gone through the PS1, PS2 and soon the PS3 and 360, it's main market is in Japan where it is still played widely on arcade consoles.

 

As i played this game as a kid, it is one of my favourite game series, despite missing a generation (tekken 4), and with the release of Tekken 6 soon approaching i'm really excited. However, i'm not so sure about the new addition to bring in weapons for certain characters. Although the new environments the characters fight in look amazing, although seem a lot like those found in "Dead Or Alive", but i'm not that bothered by it.

I like Tekken and am looking forward to Tekken 6, but its not a "must buy" for me. When its reduced in price I'll get it.

They are bringing out 2 limited edition packs.

1 of which has a book containing concept art ect and a hoody with the tekken symbols on the back.

The second, which is so rediculously overpriced, contains an arcade styled controller for 1 or 2 people, i forget. But it's the same price of buying an xbox360 with a 20Gb hardrive.

I have played Tekken quite a bit, most on PS1, but its not a game that keeps you playing for long. Once you unlock all the characters, whih doesn't take that long, there isn't much else to do apart from the odd mulltiplayer battle

I remember I used to play Tekken 4 a few years ago. I just picked a random character, and kept spamming buttons to clear stages, lol. :P

I played Tekken 3 a lot as a kid- it's hands-down my favourite fighting game. I bought TTT a few months back, and my main characters are Julia and Jun (I love beating my friends with female characters while they use characters like Heihachi, Kazuya and Paul ). I'm also good with: Michelle, Paul, Xiayou, P. Jack, Heihachi and Kazuya.

 

I plan to buy T5 soon since T6 is out of the question for me due to my lack of next-gen console =\ Hopefully they make a TTT2 and have it available for PS2.

I havent played tekken seriously for a few years, but I used to be fairly good at 4. My best character was xiayou by a mile.

I'm really looking forward to playing 6.

Oh Yeh! I complete forgot about 'Gon' the dinosaur :lol: He was so annoying to defeat because he was so small you could only do low moves.

 

My favourite/best character was Hwoarang. Other than him i used to use Devil Jin and Eddy. I tried to use a few more people but never got far with them.

If so, who is/was your favourite character to use? I used King from Tekken 1 to the start of Tekken Tag, then I slowly started using Lee Chaolan all the way to Dark Resurection, when Dragunov appeared as my random character, he is now my character and I have nearly mastered him.

What are your opinions on Tekken 6 and it's new additions (characters and weapons)? Will be buying it, no matter what, the only thing it comes second to is FF XIII, then I shall get my brother or dad to buy it for me. :cool: The weapons shall make for a good addition (in my opinion) and as long as you can disable them (for the whingers) and as long as Dragunov gets something good, i'll be happy.

Everyone seems to be getting hyped up about the fact that Brian has a Chain-gun/Mini-gun (whatever you want to call it lol) and surely something like that would be overpowered unless it was very limited? I can just imagine someone pulling out loads of 10-hit-combos and then someone just breaking out a weapon and slaughtering them.

They're only getting hyped cause that's the only weapon that is 'well' known, I know Lee is getting a rapier, though. I'm not sure how the weapons will work, but I think they'll work them into combos and such. I hope they find a good way to balance the weapons first. Because Chain Gun > Rapier in most situations.

Yeh i'd have to say the best way to put them in is if they are worked into combos, i can see that working well.

There aree some characters that i just can't imagine having weapons, Lee having a rapier is just blatently obvious lol.

I plan on getting Tekken 6 atleast by Christmas. I've played Tekken 5 [dark resurrection] but comparing it to soul calibur 3&4 -- I wasn't a big fan. The movements are stiff.

I've only just recently bought Tekken 6, and i have to say it is very addictive xD

The computer players are a lot harder the further you progress than they were in tekken 5, and i love the online play, and it's good that you decide your player before you are put into a lobby with a player to avoid someone choosing a player purely determined on who the other player picks, so the battles are a little bit fairer.

Wow, Tekken 6 has a lot of move changes. Devil Jin can now do awesome flying attacks (could only use the laser beam while flying, otherwise flying had no use). Asuka Kazama had her 1 button uppercut removed, plus a myriad of others.

Also, is it just me, or is this the most new characters introduced in a single new game?

Played a few rounds with my friends, don't actually have the game myself. I like the game, I usually picked a random character and got some awesome ones that way lol. The only that annoys me is when my opponent spams in a way that I just can't do anything about it. Bob, the fat guy, had a move like this.
