Ruzbeh
I thought you were a Square-Enix fan? Square-Enix is supporting Playstation 3, Nintendo Revolution and Nintendo DS. They're hardly supporting Xbox or X360.

When Microsoft's new console launches in Japan on December 10th, consumers who buy the Limited Edition of the console, which retails for approximately 40,000 yen, will receive a free Beta disc for Final Fantasy XI. All they'll need are PlayOnline and Xbox Live Silver memberships, which, luckily, are both also free. The offer will only last as long as supplies of the FFXI beta disk hold out, so those who arrive at stores first may be the only ones lucky enough to snag a chance to experience FFXI online on the Xbox before the general public. Faux
If I'm going to spend money on a console, I'd rather go for the first Xbox. Xbox 360 doesn't really interest me :? This is exactly why I enjoy console gaming and not computer gaming. I made a bad decision about 4 years ago and bought myself a comp. It cost $850 which was a lot for a 13-14 year old and I got totally ripped. Yes, it was my fault, but even 6 months later I couldn't play half the games on the market. 4 years later and I can still play ever ps2 game I have. I'd say your $600 on a computer is a major waste. I already preordered my 360 and I am anxiously awaiting it.

Why not pay $100-150 bucks to upgrade your RAM? Just to keep up with the games instead of paying for another console which equals buying another computer? You'll end up paying more than 1k to enjoy the console anyway. Might as well spend it on something worthwhile. Can you name any computer which will run the most current games and doesn̢̢̮ââ¬Å¡Ã¬Ã¢ââ¬Å¾Ã¢t need to be upgraded for about 5 years? Most computers will be lucky to last 2 years (although more realistically you are looking at 1 year). I brought my 3 GHz P4 a couple of months ago and it can't play games on full settings anymore, Doom3 even lags a little but it might be the cheap 3d Card. At least when you get a console game you know you are going to get something that will have optimal performance for the platform.

The Xbox 360 does NOT cost $600. You can buy the core system for $300 or the premium for $400. So you guys can stop with the $600 rubbish. Anything after spending the 400/300 = whatever you also have to pay for your comp to do gaming. ~ShadowFaxPZ - Would my argument be presented better if I used 50 spaces between my sentences? Didn't think so. Just upgrading my RAM wasn't going to cut it, since computers have things called processors? Scenario: Buy a new console every 4-5 years for $300 - $400. Upgrade my computer's ram ever 1.5 - 2 years and then every 2 - 3 years (5 total following original purchase) buy a new computer. Hrmm which one saves me a lot more money and still gives the same amount of satisfaction. Console wins in the total utility department. Good Night. Doom3, Half-life 2 and Halo2 are pretty good at matching up to the computer. Although they don't look like max setting games (probably medium settings) they sure run well for something less then 1/3 of a computer that handles max settings. If you had a computer with the same stats as the Xbox the games wouldn't even run. However this isn't the Xbox; the xbox360 has statistics quite a bit better then computers today (compared to the mediocre stats of the Xbox). The architecture for the graphics card is next generation in terms of speed and a couple of generations ahead in terms of features (a large cache next to the GPU and unified shader pipelines). Also the 3 CPU cores with 2 threads each running at 3.2 GHz (so that̢̢̮ââ¬Å¡Ã¬Ã¢ââ¬Å¾Ã¢s what 9.6Ghz of raw power) pretty much dwarfs current computers whereas the Xbox barely kept up with my year or two old computers. Also I would like to mention that games will not age as fast compared to the Xbox. The first generation games are already starting to look photorealistic (have you seen the sweat on the basketball players in NBA2k6) with future generations looking much better as programmers get use to the Xbox̢̢̮ââ¬Å¡Ã¬Ã¢ââ¬Å¾Ã¢s capabilities (compare Halo 1 to 2 or Project Gotham 1 to 2). Sure there will be some nice new graphics effects that will come out but they won't be as big as 4x Anti-Aliasing, motion blur or bloom effects (which gives graphics a lot greater realism) ; not to mention the graphics will output at details that will approach computer monitors. GameCube was cheap and it was fun, I'll expect it to be the same with Rev. And because a lot more people will be able to afford the Rev. than the rest of the Consoles. It's just that to me, you can just use that money to upgrade your computer that you prolly use everyday than spend it on a console you play once a week after the hype wears off. Mr_Putter
The first generation games are already starting to look photorealistic (have you seen the sweat on the basketball players in NBA2k6)Yea, but have you seen the movies for it? The screens are way easier to make look good. When you watch the movies, there are hardly stellar, and can't even compare to the screens. That's how it always has been. High def teaser screens and E3 vids, then dissappointing when the game actually comes out and you are actually playing it.
