These types of lists are ALWAYS terrible.

 

I shall agree. Opinions annoy me. Especially in things like these.

 

Assasin's Creed is very repetetive, should go way back, maybe drop off the list, there are better games. Vice City beats all other GTAs, San Andreas was a let down for me, I don't know why, maybe Las Venturas as a whole had a play in it? I hated those missions/that place.

 

How could you not like San Andreas? In my opinion, it was the greatest game I've ever played on PS2, and my first with over 100h playtime. It was great.

 

Then again, it might just be me....

 

Though tbh, I've never played Vice City, I find it hard to believe that it would be even better than SA.

Tetris is awesome, and is number 1 on my list.

 

Oblivion being higher that Morrowind is odd, since it wasn't as good of a game.

I could never finish Deus Ex. I've tried numerous times, and I generally enjoy the RPG/FPS style games as well (loved System Shock 2). Wish I could finish it too, it obviously seems like a great game. Personal opinion aside I would place Half Life above it just because of it's influence on modern modding and FPS's if anything. For a game to so greatly influence both single and multiplayer FPS's it's kind of a big deal :P.

Modern Warfare (CoD4) was really polished but I would not put it anywhere close in the top 20. Perhaps around 150-175 or so.

If thats in the top 20 then CoD5 should be in the top 30.

 

And any future lists better just not have MW2 on it.

MW2 is just a party game.

I agree that it definitely shouldn't be in the top 20. I would say somewhere around the 100 mark. You don't get any more FPSs which are better than CoD4, in terms of gameplay, story, mulitplayer etc.

I kind of get annoyed when people refer to FPS games now redefining the genre. Very few bring anything new to the genre. More polished graphics are nothing new, graphics always improve. A few extra multiplayer options are also not redefining.

First off, I do not own the game, but I have played it with friends.

 

To be honest, I like the game, it is a great experience but I really do not think this is the best shooter we have right now, it feels...generic. Then again, your mileage may vary.

Best shooter in this half of the year maybe, but it will soon be bested, which is why it isn't on the list.

 

It needs something to make it a timeless game, which is what most of the shooters on the list are.

I can't be bothered going through the list properly, especially since it's just some person's opinion, but deus ex should be much higher, dragon age and jade empire should be on that list, kotor should be higher, oblivion was terrible imo, and where the [bleep] is monkey island?

I really think that MW1 really had a timeless element too it, just like Team Fortress 2. MW2 is the same all over again, it is great again, but it is almost the same game with nothing really essentially *new*.

 

Both really I think are timeless, and both I think really helped define shooters this genre.

WoW is a difficult choice. In all honesty I think it deserves a spot no matter what your feelings are about the game. I can't see any other MMO, after all, that would be able to fit in a top list unless you were just going to look at their prime time or something. Ultima Online made several bad decisions and it's a bad game now. Everquest was never a good game, it was just the only of its kind. Arishon's Call was a very good MMO (I never got a chance to play it though) but was also a very niche product in the scheme of things. Other than that no other modern MMO is really worthy of a top spot, the genre just has been making some poor decisions. WoW, at least, has made a very large impact on the industry and the only reason it can be viewed as a generic MMO is because every MMO tries to emulate it's success. There is enough different between WoW and Everquest that it is in no way an "EQ clone".

I wasn't refering to mmo's when I said there were more deserving games. I understand why its there I just don't agree with it being on the list.

What do you consider "this gen" ?

My guess is that he's referring to 360 ps3 etc generation of games. He is most likely a console gamer because of the reference to generation, which explains the whole "MW2 is pure awesome" mentality. MW and MW2 are for the most part generic shooters with pretty graphics, which real gamers don't care about. Its ok story line wise, but its not my personal cup o' tea. So two answer part of the original question, not everyone likes your specific taste in games, life is tough wear a helmet.
