Jesus_Status
I just got my first living rock creature task and I have no idea how to go about this task. What I need to know is: What Equipment should I wear? What do I need in my invy? Where in the Cave is the best place to kill them? Thanks in advance
Norriie
They're very easy and rarely hit. They are all over the cavern so you should be surrounded by spawns no matter where you stand at. For a task of about 200, I bring 4 extra bunyip pouches, a summoning potion (4), 2 super attack pots, 2 super strength pots, a pickaxe, and an EE.I wear normal melee armor, preferably with strength > defense, and have a bunyip summoned. After they die you can mine them for a little bit of mining exp (25 exp) and living minerals, but you need 73 mining to do it.All of the drops are either noted or stackable, so you won't need to bank during the task at all. Bunyip should easily keep up with the healing, but it's good to have the EE as a backup just in case they get a few lucky hits in (I've only needed it once in two tasks of about 190). Good luck! Obtaurian
Use a crush weapon. That's important. To put it bluntly, [bleep] off.
Norriie
Use a crush weapon. That's important. Not really. I hit high and often with a whip + defender. If you have a godsword or something, use it, but otherwise whip does just fine. i_r_slayer
I wouldn't use a godsword even if you have one. I very rarely miss with whip and I'm only 90 attack. Its an awesome task btw, was based on guesswork but I'm pretty sure I was getting at least 90k defence xp/h there.

Nope unfortunately my mining level is awful. It took me 9 doses of super set repotting every 10 minutes to kill 140 of them. 200+275 hitpoints / 2 = 237.5 average hp per creature. 237.5*4*140=133k 133k / 90 = 1477.77 exp per minute = 88.6k xp/h
Grimy_Bunyip
how are the charms?
firestrike
The charms are pretty ordianry, I have had one task of 187 or 200 or something, and i cant remeber specific numbers, but i remeber thinking the charms weren't great., yet the exp was awsome so that is the comprimise. i_r_slayer
Just to follow up on this a bit. I tried piety here with full prossy and DFS on task. I got 120k defence exp/h at 90 attack and strength at the cost of about 60k cash per hour after factoring in drops.

I've seen people killing them the few times I caught rocktails/cavefish. They were pretty decent monsters to kill from the start, really, I suppose that people just didn't know it. Cantristenon
For 120k xp per hour you need slayer helm/black mask bonus, please note that. Without them it's around 90k per hour. For pietying I prefer Falador shield 3 over DFS/Defender. Of course up to you if you want +7 str or +8 prayer bonus.

If this is the case, why didn't people train here before? Keep in mind all these figures in this thread are using a slayer mask with it's attack/strength boosts. Before the recent update, there were no living rock tasks. Also, the exp/hour isn't so amazing compared to other monster when you're off-task. I'm sorta surprised at the exp these things are giving, when I first saw the task in the RS KB I was thinking that it'd be just another task to skip/block - I suppose not. On topic, standard melee slayer gear works. Whip, Rune defender, slayer/black mask, barrows/bandos gear (prossy if using piety). Bring a bunyip/unicorn (I *think* it's single combat since I remember killing them for a few hours when the dungeon first came out) and a damage dealing spec weapon (excalibur not needed). Just be ready for any living rock patriarch spawns, you wouldn't want to miss out on killing one of those :-P A Draconic Guide V1.4, Fimer - Multi-Timer Farming Timer V3.Dragon Boots: 39|Abyssal Whips: 16|Dark Bows: 1|
