Mining Living Rock Caverns

Featured Replies

I was going to go try out the Living Rock Caverns soon, and I was just curious as to any special set-ups I should consider? For example, anything I should wear, or have in my inventory?

Well I've never been there...at least I knew that I could use my Glarial's Amulet instead of having to go get a new one! Lol.

Regen bracelet is nice if you find yourself losing health. Varrock armor 2 is obviously near-required.

Well I'd have on my regular skilling outfit, which includes dragon boots, barrows gloves, and toktz-ket-xil for some defence (and it matches the rest), and varrock armor 2 is on as well.

Is there like a set time for how long it takes a collapsed rock to..uncollapse?

You usually don't have to worry about that. By the time the second rock collapses, the first one is usually back up. Also, stay on the rock with the most people, so that it lasts longer.

Also join one of the various CC's that call out which gold rock is up...

"Mining Golds" is the most popular one...

If you go in w84 (the unofficial world) you just need to bring a pick and maybe a familiar. Armor isn't required, but you may find it helpful.

On the contrary, i would go with a setup with the highest melee/range defense you have. I've seen a lot of people die down there who aren't paying attention and get attacked while mining. Without any armor, you'd be a goner really quickly.

Wield the pickaxe and bring either a beast of burden or a familar that gives mining bonus.

Nah, I never wear any armor, and I don't die very often.

Well I went down in my skilling outfit and only got about 276 coal (I'm not level 80 yet, working on it) before I had to bank for food. Then I went down with the highest range bonus that I had, and I lasted quite a bit longer. But I've been seeming to have some bad luck with the coal rocks then, because I usually use the ones to the east of the entrance, and by time both rocks collapse, they're both down, so I run other places looking for rocks. Oh yeah, and I bring an Obsidian Golem with me. Just out of curiosity, I know this may sound dumb, but does the Golem have to be next to you for you to get the bonus? Or can he be trapped behind some rocks off screen and still get it?

You'll have more luck when you get to gold, there are more people, so you won't get attacked as often. Usually you can safespot the monsters easily, so you shouldn't have much of a problem now, anyway. Make sure you're in world 84, at the rock with the most people, and I think you receive the boost if your familiar isn't next to you.

I was in world 84, but as you can imagine, not too many people mining coal, I figured it'd be easier once I hit 80, I just have to hit 80 first lol. Alright, thanks Hedgehog!

If you have an SGS, it's perfect there to keep your health up.

If not, just keep a close eye on your health and be ready to pray range regarding the rock strikers. They can really put a hurt on you in a hurry.

Yaks and Lava titans are extremely helpful there, as are obsidian golems.
