Usefulness of Compost

Featured Replies

Is it worth making compost at all? It used to be the case that I would use any pineapples I got to make rings, but now that pineapple pizzas are difficult to make, I've got 80 pineapples a day to use to make supercompost.

In light of this, I can use supercompost in place of anything that I would use regular compost to improve survivability and yield (Marigolds, tomatos). If nothing else, I could sell it too.

So is there any point to regular compost anymore?

None that I know of, I always use supercompost

Finally on here to update that I have officially quit! It's been fun.

I've never really used regular compost. It might be practical to some people to just put in weeds or whatever low lvl farming junk they get into the bin and make compost, but making super compost is far more useful.

There are three sides to every story: There's one side, there's the other, and there's the truth.

Hmm...it seems like I've got 255 useless items. Maybe I'll just dump them into the GE and see what happens.

how are they bad? use them when you farm stuff.

I use regular compost in place of plant cures (since you can't store plant cures with a tool leprechaun). When I catch my herbs diseased, I withdraw some from the tool leprechaun, sell them to the farming store, and use the gp to buy a plant cure.

I'm the kind of farmer that only does a run or two a day and doesn't really pay attention to his plants unless I have A LOT of free time that day. So usually it's either I have them dead or alive.

Maybe these have a decent exchange rate in MA

Use them to pay for your potatoes!

Anyways... they are pretty useless to use as fertiliser, I only used them when I grew potatoes. Make super compost only, sell them if you want to. Every once in a while, when I have loads of pinapples in surplus, I just sell them for a few quick K. I profit anyways since 80 pineapples a day cost me 1 gp on average.

Other data was removed when acoount got hacked...

As people have said, if you've got them, try and find a use before chucking them :P

I usually use mine in my Flower patches, just to add that extra bit of security when growing (mostly Marigolds).

Also, when I run out of buckets and need an empty one to gather Supercompost out of the bin, there's always a few hundred regular composts nearby that I can empty... :P

See the case is that marigolds could benefit from even MORE security from supercompost. I also am very conscious about my bucket storage and compost levels, so I never run into the problem of not having enough to scoop it out of the bin.

Are compost mound familiars worth making?

Compost is used to make mud pies...

Is there a use? Yes?

Here's something you could TRY. Go to the GE and buy as many compost potions as you can. When your pineapples make normal compost (still in the bin), dump a potion in them and bam, you get a bin of supercompost.

These take a VERY long time to buy, however, since Vinesweeper and the reward from Garden of Tranquility are the only methods of getting them.

SHHHH! I've been quietly buying them since they cost 300 GP and have a couple hundred now.

Now I wasn't talking about making compost, but what to do with the ones I already have. I'm still going to use weeds and such to make supercompost using potions when I'm near a bank and pineapples on other occasions.

Pineapples make super compost, unless I misunderstood you.

You probably don't need that MUCH compost, but I do like to use regular compost on the noobier stuff, and I use supercompost on my herbs/trees/fruit trees. It increases like 50% of them not dying in allotiments so yeah they have a reason. No point in wasting supercompost in alloitment really.

But if you have a huge abundance of supercompost (I can get much more than 40 a day), then I might as well be using them on allotments.

You could sell your extra supercompost on the GE.

Excellent idea. I often find myself at a farming patch with no gp to buy a plant cure with.
