You trip over and make a lot of noise, so you begin to run, but note that the golems don't seem to be following you. The tunnel closes behind you, and a small keystone drops to the floor in front of you. It looks as if nobody can get to the chest without it.

The fletcher expects a discount for buying in bulk. He offers you 1000 gold.

You did read it correctly. The stairs open up to reveal the tunnel, and you are in front of the stairs, which have closed, graniting access to the dungeon exit
