Nex I think it may be because you did not go through a boss fight? (where the rewards tend to be) Heh for the final circle looks like I should be 25 fire magic and 35 light magic (for portal magic). (I actually kinda laughed when the second leviathan came out [i was imagining ross yelling "NO! YOU HAVE TO EARN THOSE SCALES"])

Oh, by the way Retech, why did I get out of the underworld so easily with no reward, when you said I had gotten a really good roll? I would have preferred to go with Grim, except you made it sound like there would be no loot. :(

 

I actually planned that Grim would have to go through a gauntlet of problems, without any reward. Ross put the boss fight in, I hadn't really planned that.

I use my chronomancy gauntlet to slow down time enough to run through the small door without the troll catching me (it's halfway through the room, I should have just enough time).

Grim picks up first the staff then the bow and then the sword.

You barely make it into the smaller room where you started. The troll seems to be trying to widen the door, but the hard stone makes it difficult, giving you some time.

You cut your finger off on one of the axes, failing to retrieve the staff, the bow, or the sword.

Grim heals his finger and attempts to slowly take the staff out.

How many turns? One, or two?

 

If I only have one turn, I attempt to go through the wall I came in through using geomancy.

 

If I fail to go through the wall, or have more than one turn, I compact the metal in my shield, all my metal weaponry except for one broadsword, and all the metal that comprises the spikes on my armour into my spear. I then try imbueing the spear with sound magic to make it vibrate heavily (I'm levitating it with allomancy while doing this), and two separate allomantic spells to first send out tendrils of metal towards the troll's organs and second draw in the metal currently in the troll's body to use in this process (which should be easier than actually drawing it out of the skin). I then ram the spear through the troll's stomach (thanks for making such a big target, Retech!) as far as I can.

You carefully remove the staff. Now that you're holding it, you notice that it seems to made of white elm. Suddenly, the axes begin levitating and charging at you with tremendous speed. There are far too many to take them all down, around a hundred.

The troll has a roll, so I'm presumbing your taking the first option.

 

 

 

You manage to escape through the wall.

Ok. I do the second action I specified from the safety of a bubble under the ground a ways away from the troll.

Grim raises a sphere of stone around himself. As soon as the axes the sphere he envelopes them in stone.

You manage to create a massive spear, imbued with limited sound magic. However, there doesn't seem to be a way to attack the troll through the rock.

You manage to create the sphere, which is quickly shattered by the pickaxes in the room. The smallest axes begin making small nicks in your skin.

[Grim_]

Grim attempts to destroy the pickaxes and some of the regular axes with blasts of extremely hot flame. He does this while wielding the staff.

If the allomancy magic succeeded, then I move the bubble close to the wall I came through. I try to determine where the troll is in the other room by using a combination of sound magic and geomancy to sense vibrations in the ground. If I succeed, and it's not too close, I move out of the wall and stay up against it (the wall, not the troll), ready to go back in if the troll charges, and hurl the spear with wind and sound magic assistance into the troll's stomache.

Your spell is channeled through the staff, and does absolutely nothing. The axes begin felling you like a tree, making you fall face first onto the ground.

Through your clever trickery, you hurl the spear into the troll's stomach. It lurches back, possibly fatally injured. You don't get to see what happens next though, because you have to go back into the wall before the troll hits you.

Grim attempts to heal himself and get out of the room. He dodges by teleporting with his ring.

Oh, that is just plain awesome. I try to sense the vibrations to determine if the troll is on it's feet or on the ground, and whether it is still moving. If the troll is on the ground and I don't sense much movement, I go back out of the wall and stab it repeatedly in the neck with my broadsword. If it's still moving, I give the spell a few more moments to deal severe damage, then leave the wall and stab it in the neck the same as I specified in the first response. I then attempt to dissect it, removing all of my metal from it's corpse and reforming them into their original items.

 

Just so both of us can keep track, this is the metal currently on my person:

 

6 Broadswords

3 Iron Orbs

6 Full Plate Armours worth of Steel minus:

1 Full Thick Steel Plate Armour with Large Wings and Retractable Spikes

1 Steel Winged Spear

3 Steel Orbs

 

How much unused steel would I have from that?

You manage to heal all your nicks and stratches. Your teleportation does the trick, and you manage to evade the axes. Finally you arrive in the sea serpent room.

The troll seems to be moving more than ever before, and you get tired of waiting for it to stop moving. (Not sure if you still wanted to do it anyways, so I just went conservative)

 

 

 

As for unused steel, I'm not sure how you could describe it, but the large wings and the plate armor removes at least half of it. We'll say that you have all the bottom things, and three plate armors left. (Assuming your armor was as good as you said you wanted it to be)

Grim attempts to mask his presence using illusion magic and a life crystal. If that succeeds he goes back to the room and attempts to remove the sword and run for it.

EDIT: Those things follow life energy correct? Well using the crystal (to provide power) and some basic illusionary magic I could create an illusionary form of myself to act as a body double.

Yerp.

 

I attempt to bring spikes from the floor and ceiling to impale the troll, which should work now because it's in a different room than the one with compacted floors and walls. I also attempt to bring up a geomancy barrier where the entrance to the main troll cave was.

You begin to sneak past the axes, thinking that you were quite brilliant sneaking past the axes. You barely get into the room, when the axes have already "finished" off your body double, and head straight for you. Unfortunately, your greed taints you and you don't notice the axes (rolled a 2), causing you to be promptly diced up into many pieces, killing you.

 

(I'll find the exp that you lose soon, but I'm trying to find the latest up to date copy of the stats)

No matter how many spikes you impale into the troll, it doesn't seem like it wants to die. However, you manage to completely block the troll off from the main cave. You get a strange feeling that you've doomed Earth to fighting the troll's mate.

i take potshots, trying to hit the trolls eyes with an acid or necro arrow.

Take it out of lance skill, intelligence, fletching/crafting, force magic and electricity (that should be enough).

Do I respawn in the underworld? If I do then I go back to collect and restore my body double. I then use it as a distraction (having it run around if possible) and rush in grab the sword and teleport out after grabbing the "body double". If I do not I go to Ikana and look for a lore master in the library listings.
