For Monopoly, I meant the government ensures a monopoly. That doesn't really change anything, since Russia was already producing algae-fuel cars. The formula is also widely known (I told everyone earlier, just not the car engine, which is several years advanced over everyone else, thanks to government aid (over 50 billion in total).

No. It just means that only Japan can sell algae-fueled cars. So, if a country like Russia starts funding companies in the SR that sell algae cars, they'd be kindly asked to leave (then have their permits revoked).

Yes, but there's no protection of that. If I started making Fuel Cell cars (which, I could since that's exactly what Project UV was), there's no guarantee that you would retain that monopoly.

There are two ways to enforce a decent monopoly:

 

Goverment action and having such a large lead in technology, that you blow away your competition. I have taken mainly the first route, though I'm trying to maintain a large enough lead that I can use the second as well

Quality cars that run on something directly derived from water, and emits only water? I think that's better.

Not if the cost is greater than that of algae fuel. Algae fuel is also great because it can be installed into existing gas infrastructure quick and painlessly, since the precautions are exactly the same (no smoking, don't light matches)

Though the cars themselves are more expensive, and they lack the range of traditional vehicles. Also interesting is that Saab was bought out by Japan. :P

Not at all. It relies on people actually buying the cars. Right now, electric cars are cheaper and have more refuel spots in the SR, so those are the predominant car. Really the monopoly was because of Russia and Japan's economic warfare over the car profits.

Electric cars really aren't much greener than any other type of car, the electricity has to come from somewhere.

For the record, the hydrogen we produce is through electrolysis, and that's powered by "green" sources, like a single newly made nuclear plant, and in the future two more dedicated plants, and one hydroelectric plant.

So what your saying is it's completely overpowered?

That means it produces the equivalent of 104,685,360,000 barrels of oil. That's 63 exajoules, or 1,774,000,000 megawatt hours. Being able to make something like that in a few years is stupid.
