Your economy is probably one of the weaker....If you were on the Gold Standard...You would need a fractional reserve of 1/125 to maintain Norway's current level of GDP...

Although at that level your country would be laughably easy to crash....Anyone broughy 125th of your gold reserve would cripple you...or 1.6 Tonnes of Gold.

I agree to buy and sell Gold at a set rate, rather than changing it with the tides of the sea, as currently happens. This is currently pegged at 1000 US Dollars per Ounce.

 

Where as typically people just buy and sell it based on the stock market price.

As the economy in Europe begins to go crazy, European countries next to Russia start thinking about Russia's vassal state agreement more. Russia sends in a few ambassadors into the countries I was on about earlier, Latvia, Estonia, Kazakstan, Azibajstan for the vassal agreement

Yes...Them rejoining Russia after only just declaring independance might be a bit tricky. I can definately say Lithuania and Latvia wouldn't want to rejoin(University friends, I am so multi-cultural=P) and they think the same is true for Estonia.

I had really hoped we weren't just going to grab every country we can while they are still available. Can't they just stay as NPC countries unless you go through some incredibly long, arduous process?

We are...its called arguing. :thumbsup: But yeah, the game will just get boring if we can't gratitously grab countries...occationally. =P But I would like to point out that most of us just want to build strong enough countries to not get invaded....I am not, but I have always been a 'stand on his own two feet' kinda guy.

Dusty what are your avalible funds? Budget, Research Budget? I mean my research into Particle Accelerators is not a massive amount of money, its probably the turnover a large company...maybe two or three million a year, most of which comes back to me anyway...

Anyway, I'm going to go ahead and take partial control of Canada and the UK (not annexation) in order to just ensure that some idiocy doesn't happen and completely undermine and ignore the things that have been happening between these NPC countries and the US. I will largely be in control of the US, but I might talk a little bit about events that have happened in the two countries recently.

 

I figured that Ross could do something similar with New Zealand so it isn't randomly gobbled up by Japan or whatever.

Sere you can't control a whole contient as well as an even larger pile of gold and agriculture and all that Jazz... I think, if we are going to control NPCs that me, you and Grim need to have equal control over the UK and you and Doom need equal control over Canada.

New Zealand should have power split between Rocco, Retech and Ross....Countries should be split up to depend on people who have vested interests...and by spending money and time on gaining influence you can 'Grow' your influence so that you can dominate them in time....Just a thought.

Might get complicated but really we just need a spreadsheet with some columns....

I'm not even annexing them, so no, you didn't read my post. I'm ensuring that some random bastard doesn't say "oooh! Britain asked to join Germany! *Annex*" I'm just preserving their status as an NPC nation (which any new person could come in and play, really) so that stupid [cabbage] doesn't happen. It's not really an exploit.

Sere...You have partial control which means people like Retech will want 'partial control' and bam, annex-fest. (Its not about you)

Unless you are playing moderator, when then screws the gameplay since the USA is a massive country controlled by someone who is also the moderator...Can't really attack in case suddenly all the NPCs around me invade(unlikely, I wouldn't attack and you probably wouldn't screw the game, but there is still the fear factor)

 

 

Its not 'Brazil' its Doom... Doom as in the player, who Canada joining(in whatever form) the USA, is going to be most effected....people who have a vested interest in the situation.

I guess the UK would be fairly screwed if it wanted to restore the British Empire and me and Grim went 'Actually, that doesn't fit with our plans right now'...Which is why I suggested the influence system, so if Sere(you) wanted to make the UK restore the British Empire then the USA would spend money and time 'influencing' the UK and would then gain a share of the control(Say 3% per day, which is why I said spreadsheets) if me and/or Grim wanted to stop you then we would have to spend money and time countering your influence(ie gaining the same amount as you, so you could never gain more than 50%)

Well its an extention of the 5 day annex rule...so if I wanted to stop someone annexing somewhere I could spend money and stop them...rather than going 'You can't do that!!'

Its fairly simple, to be honest. You spend money to buy control of another nation, but gaining that control also takes time...so its not like you can just buy 20 allies and then use them all to invade somewhere.

 

 

It is supposed to be a check and balance though....But there needs to be a way to get around the balance otherwise the game could just sit there for weeks...

That rule never existed in Hegemony V1, so no.

 

All I'm doing with Canada and the UK is providing random news in order to show that they are still legitimately operating in the game so people aren't saying that it is having no technological advancements and is a wasteland. I know more about the two countries, so it's easier for me to do so.

 

It sounds more realistic than that system anyway.

Well then I disagree. I wasn't allowed to control any aspect, even an informal agreement, so no one should be allowed to.

 

I am gonna be a (person) and just bring back the Concert of Europe everytime someone tries to control another country...because its exactly the same concept, just on a larger scale.
