There is such thing as moss oil. Well it's not technically called moss oil, but it exists today. It was listed as a promising carbon neutral solution to the depleting oil reserves. The only problems were basically they were trying to breed a new kind of moss which gives a high quantity of extract to be used, and they needed a way of growing it. And tada, problems solved.

Might be. I still remember very clearly that they used the term moss. Maybe they got it mixed up? I haven't been able to find a moss renewable energy source anywhere. <_<

The Romanian peacekeepers involved with the Suez Canal Crisis were murdered by Swiss and Russian troops. Both regimes deny this charge.

 

Italy breaks off all talks with the Swiss government and embargoes both Switzerland and Russia.

 

NATO embargoes Switzerland and Russia.

 

NATO proposes that all account holders remove their holdings from Swiss accounts immediately.

 

The UN, being angered by Switzerland's war crimes, approves unanimously sanctions against the Swiss and Russian governments.

 

A blockade has been formed in order to control what goes in and comes out of Switzerland.

 

Also, every NATO country and every member of the UN has placed an embargo against Russia and Switzerland.

Okay, so basically all my moss research was in fact in Algae research. I don't think it can survive in the open sea either, so I'm still going to be growing that on my floating islands on the coast. As a safety measure, nets have been set outside the boundaries to make sure things don't get out.

SSR reminds Switzerland that it is completely surrounded by UN nations, and that a blockade means your entire country is essentially under siege. Someone in Switzerland likes German beer? Too bad, it'll have to be smuggled in, and that means it'll be 10x the cost. Like French wine? Same deal.

 

Give it a year or two and your people will revolt and tear down the Swiss government.

The UN would've sent peacekeepers in to do the same thing. You were talking about cutting of the biggest shipping route in the world, and a major source of wealth for all of Europe.

 

Guys guys guys, you can't just throw around embargos like that. If countries did this in reality all of us wwould have starved to death because the intertwined global trade network would be completely screwed up.

They do do this in real life. I also made sure to PM Sere about this to figure out what the most realistic response would be. Consider that Arch did this:

-Tried to collapse the European Economy

-Collapsed the EU

-Used mustard gas

-Tried to dam the largest shipping route in the world

-Killed peacekeepers

-Used [bleep]ing chemical weapons

Switzerland continues trading since the UN is powerless to stop it and countries pretty quickly see that Romania was at fault and the Switzerland was trying to help the world.

Japan pays the tonnes of gold it has, down to 975 tonnes (it had a bit more than that, so I am rounding it now) to convince the National Algae Association to relocate its headquarters to Osaka, Japan. They are being given free housing and food costs, if they continue working on the Algae.
